U.S. Embassy Reaffirms U.S. Respect for Islam (Obama Condemns 1st Amend. Protected Koran Burning)
U.S. Embassy in Kabul ^ | Monday, September 6, 2010

Posted on 09/06/2010 10:20:39 AM PDT by kristinn

The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.

The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.

President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: “Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”

Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.

Just a few days ago, President Obama’s Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.

“A responsibility to fight negative stereotypes of Muslims is not part of the president’s job description.

But, but, it really pisses him off!”

This burning of the Koran is turning out to be the biggest thing yet in terms of symbolism. It looks like it will literally slay the sense if invincibility among radical jihadist Muslims around the world — more than anything we have done in the War on Terror.

You can tell it’s effective because of the people who are squealing the most about it. People who never raised a whimper when the flag was burned and Bibles banned from classrooms and graduations and Christians fired from universities for being pro-life. Not a whimper.

It’s way past time to stop placating these idiot inbred muzzies. We should just tell them the truth that their “religion” is a total sham made up by a pedaphile who made shit up as he went along so he could screw as many people as he could. He was also a thief, a warmonger, rapist whose voice he heard was that of satan. If the truth hurts then so be it. I am so sick of these idiota I could SCREAM! There is no way that anyone will ever get me to believe “it’s a religion of peace”. I have nothing but contempt for each and everyone who is stupid enough to follow this hate filled murderous cult.

Did he condemn his buddy Bill Ayers’ stomping on a US flag?

Now WHY did you waste perfectly good toilet paper there, Comedian? Sheryl Crowe would be VERY disappointed in you...

Tell that to the guys in Afghanistan, fighting not just our enemies, but the propaganda war, that uses idiocy like this to rally them to their cause.

So, our soldiers are fighting for the right of the Muslims in America to squelch the free speech of Americans?

What do they do to Bibles in Islamic Countries when they find them?

Maybe I'll get upset about the burning of a few korans by a tiny church in Florida when the same Islamic apologists get at least a wee bit upset about the wholesale banning of Bibles, the commonplace burning of churches, and the widespread persecution and murder of Christians in Muslim lands become a target of their self righteous smugness.

Not before. Maybe not after.

” These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. “

.. try telling that to the woman in iran that just picked 99 lashes (from a picture Amnesty INternational furnished a UK paper), which is in addition to the death by stoning she already has

I’d like to see Hussein’s reaction if a bunch of conservatives showed up at his next public address and, instead of trying to shout him down like leftists do when a conservative speaks, just solemnly and silently hold up crosses.

""Burning a few Korans is a good start.""

"It is a pointless, stupid stunt."

Fer sure. Once we start burning their books, it's only a small jump before we start burning them. And they don't deserve that. Well, most of them, anyway. It's just those badass muzzies that chop off the heads of innocents that will have to worry once the smoke begins to rise.

I just hope there will be a sure-fire way to tell the good ones from the bad ones.

It is a pointless, stupid stunt.

I don't disagree, but then again so is getting too worked up about it.

Yup. The whole enchilada. That stupidity has a tendency to round off the rough edges and makes us all more tolerant and less militant.

The American melting pot.

And that is the clash, isn’t it? Freedom versus oppression.

...y'know, other than the construction of the Ground Zero Victory Mosque, that's something this administration supports vocally and fanatically -- because the so-called President is a Moslem. Thanks kristinn.
