TSG: "KORAN BURNER: CREEPIER THAN YOU THINK
The Smoking Gun ^ | 9/8/10 | LiveFreePordie

SEPTEMBER 8--The Florida pastor who is planning to burn a pile of Korans this weekend runs a church that has established a variety of cult-like rules for individuals studying to become ministers, according to the group’s “rulebook.”

The Dove World Outreach Center (DWOC), headed by Islam-hating Rev. Terry Jones, has been widely denounced for its September 11 bonfire plans. The tiny Gainesville church is headed by Jones and his wife Sylvia, a co-pastor.

The DWOC’s “Academy Rulebook,” a copy of which you’ll find here, was created in November 2007 by Sylvia Jones. The document, which details the standards to which a prospective DWOC minister must adhere, addresses topics such as behavior, study, and communication. It is also filled with the kind of creepy directions that are often associated with cults.

For instance, students are directed to cut off most contact with family members. “Family occasions like wedding, funerals or Birthdays are no exception to this rule,” the rulebook notes. “No phone calls. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances but only after receiving permission.”

The Joneses also barred “Singles” from having “romantic relationships to the opposite sex…

I sure as hell wouldn’t burn the Koran! There ARE Christian evangelist in Muslim countries and they spread the Good News quietly, but they know and have accepted the risks. If I were called to spread the Gospel in a Muslim country, I wouldn’t appreciate it if some nutjob in Florida was insulting all of Islam and making my job harder.

So-called “Rev” Terry Jones is a Democrat party, Soros stooge.

This is what the lib media are going to use to paint anyone against the Ground Zero mosque.

This stifling of free speech is also one of the steps they take to keep people from fighting back. I am literally disgusted with the so called conservatives who can’t see what is happening. They are trampling on the 1st Amendment. I don’t agree with this man’s theology at all but as an American citizen he has every right to protest this evil ideology that ritualizes human sacrifice and so many other vile acts that can only come straight from the pit of hell.

Do you personally know any missionaries working under the radar in Islamic countries? I do. While I get the constitutional and political dynamics of this Quran burning, I fear for my friend’s life. It is an irrational environment. Friendships are very slowly and carefully cultivated to where a gospel witness becomes possible. An event like this can set the clock back by decades for such missionaries. They are doing a work even more important than the military, they are attacking Islam’s false teachings in the belly of the beast. You better believe this political stunt will cost precious Christian lies, except as God himself intervenes.

BTW, I don’t know about the other chap, but my law degree is from a Christian law school. Definitely not NYU.

So which one of them are denying the nut-job his First Amendment rights?

Sarah Palin said it best: He has the right to do it but he shouldn’t.

I don’t blame Muslims, but individuals.

I absolutely blame the subhuman muslims, I don't see them reining in their rabid dogs.

individuals are gonna use this as an excuse to attack Americans worldwide.

Whatever. When an "angry mob" attacks like that, they should be mowed down.

Our mistake was ever allowing Islam to be considered a religion in the first place and giving it protected status.

The pastor in Florida has already received death threats.

Let him go to Afghanistan and let it be known that he supports the "God Wants Your Soldier Son Dead" protests.

And he would probably get death threats from American troops.

I don't know who he would piss off first- the Jihadis or the American soldiers.

I am not concerned with advancing Christianity, I am resolute in defending a lawful protestor from the persecution of a government run amuck on an anti-Christian witch hunt and who is persecuting the lawful protestor to pacify a known murderous regime. This one man will define the First Amendment for a thousand years to come. It is becoming crystal clear that the world and America still has no king but Caesar. It is an archetype that he power structure eventually sides with evil every time.

Actually, legally, that can be true, especially if done with conscious disregard for predictable consequences. You didn’t personally push that person over the cliff, it was your car that did it, right? Hmmm....

BTW, if this Terry Jones claims to be a Christian, why is he disregarding the passage where Paul says to be at peace with everyone, to the extent possible? Or the passage where Paul says, sure you’re free, but be a big boy and don’t use your freedom in a way that harms others? Just sayin ...

I like the suggestion that once he gets the media there for the “burning”, he says he has reconsidered and proceeds to read those portions of the Koran calling Jews “pigs”, inciting violence etc.

Perhaps you are not, but a man who claims to be a Christian SHOULD be concerned with advancing Christianity, don’t you think?

This event will no more define the First Amendment than half naked queers dry humping each other on a gay pride parade float.

Jones is playing right into the hands of the leftist subversives.

Just think about which groups are best served by this hysterical plan of his.

1) the leftists who want to paint conservatives as nutjobs

2) the jihadists who want an excuse to continue Mohammad’s terror tactics

3) the leftists who need as many crises as possible

So Jones is either a useful idiot, or a leftist subversive

Newsflash, get well soon. A chemical straight jacket is the only hope for the likes of you.

If you or anyone can prove the reverend has committed murder, knock yourselves out. I will enjoy seeing the pocked marked, bald on top pony tailed in the back, bad hygiene, egg smeared tied NYU type lawyers running around on a habit trail allowing their anti-Christian bigotry to provoke them into trying to convict another innocent man of crimes he did not commit.

Liberalism is a dangerous and suicidal mental disorder.

do you spread the gospel here? Jesus said that the gospel would be offensive to most people because of what He asked them to do. You and other call this church a cult because the pastor has asked that disciples not hang on to families Jesus did the same. Was he promoting a cult too? As far as going out on dates we are to run from all things that could appear to be evil. When I was dating my wife to be you could not go out on a single date it was advised to have two or more couples go out together to avoid any appearance of evil. It appears that some on this forum likes the water downed luke warm Christianity.

And Jesus himself admonished his apostles to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. Innocent in this usage is generally taken to mean inoffensive and harmless.
