Go ahead and laugh at him, the way Gotham City laughs at the playboy antics of Bruce Wayne, and yes, his hair is more ridiculous and hard to believe than Charlie Crist’s marriage to novelty-products heiress Carole Rome, but Donald Trump is every so (not-often-enough) often Batman under all that bluster.
He’s offering to buy out some of the Muslim investors in the property they want to build the Ground Zero Victory Mosque on. He’s offering 25% above the actual value of the land.
The Muslims will refuse, because the front company Islam setup for this conquest monument, Cordoba House, SPECIFICALLY chose this land after careful study because parts of the hijacked planes crashed through the Burlington Coat Factory that was standing on this site and caused the building to become available for sale. To build the Victory Mosque, they need land that was scarred on 9/11…and this property met that obligation. Islam always builds a mosque on land that was conquered in a battle. Plane wreckage hitting a Burlington Coat Factory, to Islam, is like Americans planting flags on the moon or raising Old Glory over Iwo Jima. They need land that is stained with blood, where they have “planted their flag”, for the Victory Mosque project to mean what Islam wants it to symbolize in the Middle East.
We think Trump wants them to refuse.
We also think Trump’s going to propose a hotel for the site…and will then make an eminent domain appeal in court to take that land from the Muslims, after giving them this chance to be bought out. According to the recent supreme court ruling Kelo v. City of New London, authored by Justice Stevens, the government can take property away from private individuals if they have a plan that can build something there that will make more money for the government…because that is in the greater public good.
The Ground Zero Victory Mosque would be a non-tax generating building.
If Trump puts a hotel there, then that business would generate all SORTS of taxes for New York City and state: payroll taxes, business operating taxes, food and beverage taxes, hotel room taxes, taxi cab taxes, taxety-tax-tax taxes, you name it.
A further argument could be made that the Ground Zero Victory Mosque would dampen development in the neighborhood, while a hotel would draw new businesses there, resulting in even more revenue for the city and state at that location.
The state of New York has offered the Muslims land away from Ground Zero to build whatever the Hell they want — but they are refusing because the Victory Mosque MUST be built on the blood and bones of dead Americans, on land that was occupied by a building hit during the attack. They won’t willingly give up that land, because it defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do with this.
Trump’s an under-the-radar genius for doing this. We’ve been hoping he’d step into the fray.
But, we also hoped New York would listen to him nine years ago when immediately after the Twin Towers were taken out, he called for their rebuilding, bigger and stronger and taller than ever, so that Islam would, in just a few years, see New York’s skyline restored as if the attacks had never happened. You knock us down, we get right back up again.
But, that’s unfortunately not what happened. Nine years later, Ground Zero is still a gaping hole in the ground, with nothing built there, and in many ways it feels that Islam has won. You are seemingly not able to criticize Islam in the slightest, though we are supposed to have free speech in this country. You are not allowed to draw pictures of Muhammad’s face, though Muslims are allowed to behead anyone they believe offends them. You are not allowed to challenge Islam on anything, but Muslims are allowed to call for the deaths of anyone who does not agree with them.
Every time something evil Islam does is reported on, it must be couched in copious, flowery terms about how wonderful the “Religion of Peace” really is and how all Muslims are really good at heart, but are just misunderstood Care Bears that sometimes get grumpy. And you are a bigot and an Islamophobe and a racist and probably a leprechaun because you will not just shut up and allow Muslims to murder, threaten, torture, and terrorize people in peace.
It’s just what Democrats allowed the Ku Klux Klan to do to this country for decades, behind their similar veils and sheets, with threats unveiled and weapons always drawn, locked, and loaded.
It’s high time the West stopped appeasing Muslims and started drawing lines in the sand that demanded Islam accommodate itself to Western civil society — where we don’t murder people we disagree with, no matter how many drawings they make that they don’t like or how many pulled pork sandwiches they eat — instead of the West constantly having to alter the way we live, think, and act so that we don’t offend those thin-skinned, paranoid, lunatic Care Bears.

Trump would have to find a Mayor (I believe Mayor in the NYC government system, some other cities it might be a city manager who asserts ED) that would be sympathetic to Trump. I have better chance of being crowned King of England than Trump has of Bloomberg helping him assert eminent domain.

A comment on Hillbuzz: Gov Paterson is the one who might be prepared to go that route if given the opportunity. He is the one who offered them land elsewhere.

This is some weird glozi trick.
Perhaps Trump could help them find another property that costs even more. That way they could do an IRS 1031 (Starker) exchange and avoid paying any capital gains tax on their profit. Trump would know how to put together such a deal. If they did not go for it, and the chief investor has said it’s “just business”, then their ulterior motives would certainly be very apparent.
I was not at all happy with Kelo, especially as it pertains to people’s homes. “A man’s home is his castle.” So I hate to see it employeed in any situation, thus giving it strength agains all us homeowners.
I just heard yesterday that the Saudis have let Israel know that they will not be all that upset if Israel decides to take out the Iranian nukes. Apparently they have given Israel overflight permission for the trip. There are as many forms of Muslim belief/practice as there are Christian. Sunnis (Wahabi subset the most fanatical), Shiites, Alawis, Sufis, various forms in southeast asia, etc. It is the Saudi financing of Wahabi madrassas all over the place that has given Muslims such a fanatical impetus and bad name. This sect arose in the poorest most backward part of Saudi Arabia several hundred years ago. Frankly where there are Wahabi based schools in the US and other Western countries, they should be carefully watched. If they are teaching things like armed jihad, suicide bombing, and related violence, they should be arrested for “contributing to the delinquency of minors.”
