Krauthammer: Palin’s/DeMint’s endorsements of O’Donnell are destructive, capricious, irresponsible
Hot Air ^ | SEPTEMBER 12, 2010 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Via the Right Scoop. There’s nothing here that you haven’t heard before, but since “true conservatives” are in RINO-stomp mode towards Paul Mirengoff and John McCormack and Jim Geraghty and a bunch of other people who were conservatives in good standing as of, say, four days ago, let’s make sure the stealth liberal known as Charles Krauthammer takes his licks too.

The only part of CK’s monologue that I disagree with is the “capricious” part: I’m sure Palin and DeMint made their endorsements with due deliberation, knowing how much it would please their base. (They certainly took long enough to pull the trigger.) And from a philosophical point of view, endorsing O’Donnell is a win/win/win for them.

If O’Donnell beats Castle and then shocks Coons in November, they’ll get all the credit; if Castle pulls it out and sends O’Donnell packing, they can at least tell their base that they were on the side of the angels; if, as is most likely, O’Donnell beats Castle and then gets steamrolled by Coons, well, the beauty of “true conservatism” is that the highest priority is defeating RINOs, not Democrats.

They won the important fight, and without Castle in the Senate, the GOP brand will remain pure and principled and therefore well positioned for the eventual “true conservative” takeover of Congress. Like the man said, better 30 Marco Rubios than 60 Arlen Specters.

Last comment on this topic for me. I don't mind picking a fight I know I'm gonna lose, physically [many, MANY years ago], or, politically not so long ago [voted for Perot, twice!]. I don't wanna compromise on principles. But, I do want someone with most of my principles at the table. Right now for PA we have nothing.

Right now is the spring of 1942 and we don’t like some of our allies. Fine. First win some battles. Then control the field(s). Then win the war. Then decide what to do with our so called allies.

Nice analogy. Except the RINOs are the Italians under Mussolini, the French and the allies who cut and run when fighting starts.

The are like the vaunted "Republican Guard" of the Iraqis.

Just because someone is on your side doesn't make them your "ally". Its what you do in a fight.

A better analogy would be to have 5 offensive lineman playing for you and not knowing which one is going to man up and pick up the blitz or which one is going to say, "this is kinda tough, these other guys are mean and I don't want to get hurt." Then folding up and letting you get your face planted in the deck.

That's what a RINO is. A traitor in your camp. I'd rather vote for a more conservative RINO than a RINO with seniority. That way RINOs are put on notice. One term and if you vote as a democrat, then by all means pull a Specter and join the democrat quisling party.

"can be wrong"

Excellent observation. I have great respect for Krauthammer, but no one, no conservative is perfect. They all make mistakes. In general, I tend to believe Krauthammer's observation about the most electable conservative. The fault in that is electing someone who pays lip service to the voters and turns into a RINO or worse when elected. What's the point of electing someone who is more liberal than conservative? We'll see.

I am a huge fan of Mr. Krauthammer, but believe he doesn’t understand the Palin Power Punch. He underestimated her with the Miller win and had to eat his words. I don’t believe America has seen such a powerful woman as Sarah Palin in its History, and this is reason for the fear on left, confusion in the middle and the underestimating by some on the right. It is the American experiment continuing. May God Bless Her.

If so-called conservatives can come out and demand we vote for a person like Castle despite his miserable blatantly liberal record and then tell us we have to understand and compromise, when we have a chance to win with a true conservative. When they won’t even consider joining the battle if O’Donnell wins then I am ashamed to be associated or call myself a conservative!

Oh, don't be ashamed to be a conservative, just be sure to call a RINO a RINO and fight to defeat them, or ignore them, as the situation requires.

Is Nancy Pelosi “electable” to the U.S. Senate in Utah or Wyoming?

I guess so until there’s actually an election, right?

Your example is ridiculous. Why? Because we are discussing races between alleged conservatives, one simply more conservative than the other. In that context, calling one more "electable" than the other is just a guess. So, to counter that argument, you bring up the idea of running an extreme leftist in a traditionally conservative area. A valid analogy? Not even close, buddy.

Is that the same Biden son that had Larry Sinclair falsely arrested, and then soon afterward, Biden was chosen as Veep?

He's also pro-choice.

I'm tired of the CK is Smart meme. He isn't. He was part of the slavish Obama worshipers a mere year ago, calling him "eloquent."

I looked up his creds on Wiki. He majored in poly sci, and got into med school at Harvard.

Just how did he manage that? Every doc I've ever known had a degree in some science because of all the math and science prereqs for medical school. I did know one who first got a degree in art, but went back and did her prereqs for med school, which gave her a second degree in bio.

How did he get into med school? Family connections, maybe?

So he gets to say he's a doctor, but he doesn't seem to have ever had a clinical practice.

Wheelchair-bound---

Yeah, and a eugenicist to boot!! You should have heard him during the DeShiavo imbroglio-- it's always surprised that someone with such a severe disability should hold the lives of others so cheap (he's prochoice), but you see them all the time. Hawkins is probably the same way...

The Establishment drones with their poll fixation might want to listen to Scott Rasmussen

Rasmussen happens to be the pollster who conducted the one poll the NRC drones all love to cite showing “0’Donnell cannot win”.

Rasmussen was on Fox news this weekend. He said predicting General Election outcomes on the bases of pre-primary polling is useless. The electorate is too volatile pre primary to give accurate readings on outcomes for the General. He said it usual takes 10 days to 2 weeks after the primary before the electorate settles enough for him to get a useful poll done

What good is your 51st Senator if he pulls a Jefford and sells his seat to his ideological soul mates, the Democrats, in Jan 2011?

I’m going to miss the “Scottish Law” jokes we’ve been telling since the advent of FR. Well, no, not really. I’m not.

The Tea Party is not going to vote for Castle, and might very well vote for Coons if Castle is the nominee.

How very impressive. /s

Charles Krauthammer is the ultimate communist propaganda tool.

He, and other make-believe "fiscal conservative" wordsmiths, convince too many real conservatives that we have something in common with the northeast liberal RINOs who mask their communism and corruption with an (R) label.

Another such communist propaganda tool is Michael Medved (must be so they can ensure both coasts are covered).
