Washington - The deepwater drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico has not increased unemployment in the region, says a new report from the Obama administration that counters the dire predictions of oil industry officials and Gulf Coast residents. The report, being released at a Senate hearing Thursday, said the moratorium imposed after the BP oil spill might have temporarily cost 8,000 to 12,000 jobs on oil rigs and elsewhere. But it found no net job loss in the region, thanks in part to a big hiring push for cleanup crews and massive spending

What has happened to “under” employment, though? Surely folks who used to be harvesting lucrative batches of seafood or staffing oil drilling facilities for a handsome pay aren’t getting the same wages to skim water and wash oiled birds, are they?
SO, they admit that they cost 8-12 thousand jobs, but claim that’s OK because of hiring for cleanup? But that’s done now. And if they hadn’t imposed the moratorium, MORE people would have had jobs, so it did INCREASE unemployment over what it would have been without the moratorium.
Or to put it in the Administration Venacular: Their moratorium killed or failed to create jobs.

Now we know what a “Green Job” is.
All during the Bush years we kept hearing that even though unemployment was going down and more people were working the majority of the new jobs were flipping burgers and making fries at McDonalds. Now they are trumpeting that they have destroyed 8,000 to 12,000 long-term skilled positions but they offset it with unskilled temporary clean up? Granted a lot of Americans are stupid but this is ridiculous.

Like I said last night...I truly believe that there are dire national security implications to Obama’s wholesale destruction of our oil industry. If we don’t stop him and the democrats by a victory in November..this country is toast.
