I would definitely rather be spending money on offense rather than defense, but if it’s a fight Murkowski wants, it’s a fight she should get.
Don’t these selfish politicians like Crist and Murkowski get it? They both could have been the favorites to take back two Senate seats over the next couple of elections, instead they’re blowing their chance and burning their bridges on quixotic independent runs.
“Dont these selfish politicians like Crist and Murkowski get it?”
No, they have people like Rove advising them.
So you’d be content with just blocking stuff from getting done, rather than advancing any portion of the conservative agenda? Don’t get me wrong, I think that people like Castle and Chaffee, who side with Democrats more than Republicans on important issues, need to be shown the door, but if I have to put up with a Scott Brown, well I’d take him over Martha Coakley or Ted Kennedy any day.
I know how you feel. At this point, I’d happily leave the Senate in the bolshies’ hands if we could finally rid ourselves of bastards like McCain, Snowe, Collins, and Graham.
Excellent point.
It’s a lot like the Republican primary in NJ that Christie won over the “true conservative” Lonegan. I like Lonegan and voted for him... and after he lost the primary, he strongly urged everyone to get behind Christie. Even pointed out that he, Lonegan, and his supporters were forcing Christie to be more conservative.
All in all, Lonegan showed total class and clear thinking. He hasn’t gone away and is doing pretty much what Sarah is doing nationally, on a state-wide level. Now millions of people all over the country, not just in NJ, are cheering Christie.
I’ve always voted a straight R ticket since my second presidential election. After McCain I swore no more. I would not go along to get along anymore and vote for whomever the establishment said to vote for. In good conscience I can not vote for a Democrat at any level of elected office either, so I’ll leave a race empty if need be.
We do have a chance to take the Senate but I wonder if we’re doing ourselves more damage by giving someone like McCain another 6 years in office just get someone with an R after their name.
If we can get enough conservatives elected to the senate this year, we won’t even need McCain.
If McCain had run a campaign on the issues and his record instead of constantly attacking J.D. I could see your point. How do you support a man who attacked you in the way McCain did Hayworth?
I’ve followed Crist for years (we’ve been in Fl for 12 years now) and nothing he’s done surprises me. Crist has always been out for himself and if you go back and read his statements made during previous elections and debates it’s pretty clear.
The party seemed to get so stuck in this mindset that they’d support anyone as long as they were breathing, had a pulse and a R after their name. Regardless of their positions or how they voted and the base went along with it - at least until now.
We have a change to clean out the party between now and 2012 and the way Crist/Murkowski/Castle have acted only makes it easier for us to take out the trash.
Please provide a link to an article that says Hayworth is running as a write-in candidate. I'm waiting with baited breath.
I guess you need to grow up, too. /s
While you sit there with “bait breath” you might learn to read. My response was to the statement that, “When conservatives lose their primaries, however, they accept defeat and support the nominee.”. I never said or implied that Hayworth was running a write-in campaign.
You’re right. I’ve never seen candidates attack each other in a political campaign before.
There is a huge difference between someone saying they do not support a candidate and switching parties or running as a write-in after losing.
I don’t support McCain either and can’t see how anyone who calls themselves a conservative could.
I do too after last night. The first person she had speaking on her behalf was a Dem teacher and member of the NEA. She also surrounded herself with unions.
Murkowski realizes she’s burned her bridges with Republicans and Conservatives and the only way she can win is to get the Dem. vote.
Read his fundraising letter. DeMint argues conservatives are in for their country and so they’ll demonstrate class by not staging write in’s OR (this part you missed) endorse the candidate who defeated them. Hayworth hasn’t endorsed McCain.
But in fairness DeMint continues by stating his candidates that he endorsed followed this example. He never endorsed Hayworth so he’s in no way responsible for his etiquette now.
I’m of the view you don’t need to endorse but if you run in the primary you have an obligation to shut up until the election is over. Except if you’ve operated by the rule it’s common etiquette and epected it when it favored you and only efuse to do so when it does not. Castle falls in that grouping. And Hayworth probably does too.
Here’s my position. I honestly would not expect Hayworth to campaign or donate money to McCain. I just expect a certain degree of civility between opponents following a campaign. Hayworth has failed in that respect just as he failed to run an effective campaign. Lisa Murkowski is obviously incapable of civility also, and on a worse scale than Hayworth.
This election is the election of our lifetimes. Socialists/communists/marxists/revolutionaries are the enemies within this country, and we are the boots on the ground. Fight them NOW with whatever contribution you can make to Joe Miller and each conservative Senate candidate. God help us if we fail to unite and support these Senate conservative candidates.
