The Japanese love obama. I was in Hiroshima in April of this year and we went to the peace park. In the museum, they had tee shirts for sale with a pic of obama on it. why his tee shirt was for sale in the museum I have no idea. Needless to say, i passed on purchasing one of these POS shirts.

I have never thanked you personally for your takes and translations from Tokyo. I am most grateful. It is WONDERFUL to know one of our great allies are seeing through this Administration!

My 15 year old daughter is now exploring the wonderful Japanese language. I hope at sometime in the future, without politics, you can show us the best way for her to learn this most beautiful but complex language.

Sincerely, Florida FReeper

I apologize for my bad grammar.

*** and has wanted to go there and express remorse for American Military Action***

Back about 1968-1969 I saw a cartoon in MAD or CRACKED magazine.

It showed FDR bowing to the Japanese Emperor and apologizing for American ships at Pearl Harbor blowing up and damaging the hearing of Japanese pilots flying overhead.

Folks, the forces of revisionist history never rest. Does anyone remember the 1994 enola gay exhibit at the smithsonian? There was a concerted effort to portray the japanese as the victims of WWII. But there were enough people still alive who knew otherwise, that common sense prevailed. They’ll keep trying though.

It’s like I was reading their minds....

http://knewshound.blogspot.com/2010/08/ground-zero-mosque-supporters-unite.html

The ground zero mosque and Hiroshima all rolled into one.

Mine had a somewhat different outcome.

Cheers,

Hiroshima is what made them the closing days of WWII.

Absolutely. Even after the A-bomb was dropped at Nagasaki, the Jap military wanted to continue to the last man, woman and child.

Hirohito overruled them.

At least that's what we heard.

What a ingrate and trash this guy is! I will never forgive the loons who voted for this thing.

Their problem was that their only choice was to abstain and they did not understand the advantages of doing so.

A million American soldiers were estimated to be casualties. Though defeat was a matter of time, Japan had no intention to surrender.

Remember, the Emporer was god in Japan. It was a religious/fascist state (similar to Islamic countries but with the Emporer god on earth).

Dropping the bomb saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans and likely a few million Japanese.

Japan started the war. We finished it.

If any apology is due, it is from Japan for starting the war. They set in course the events which resulted in their defeat.

America owes an apology to no one for World War 2.

Will we be apologizing to Germany for defeating Hitler next? We surely would have used the atomic bomb to end the war in Europe had it been developed.

Obama, our foreign-born and anti-colonial usurper-in-thief, continues his misguided apology tour.

Hilarious
That our Kenyan president is too scared to bow to, debase himself and apologize to foreigners now due to an upcoming election. What could be more essential than an abject apology for dropping two nukes on Japan. This is the holy grail for America haters. A white nation nuking a yellow one and having their fake black 0bama icon apologizing for what his racist white predecessors did.

Yes the US was 90% white back in 1945 and the rest was black. You had some Indians and Hispanics but not more than 1%-1.5% total. Far better that a million more Japanese and white Americans should die invading and subduing Japan than that we should use two atom bombs

Back to the Kenyan.... He is showing his true colors which is yellow bellied coward all due to an upcoming election. What do election do? They express the will of the people and the people are sick of this unAmerican creep and his Democrat party full of Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid style leftist America haters

If Obama really understood Japanese culture, he’d realize that all he really needs to do is express regret over the death and destruction caused by the atomic bombs without actually saying that it was the wrong thing to do. It would sound like a non-apology to most Americans and Asians, who consider similar Japanese statements about WW2 a non-apology, but it would look like an apology to many Japanese.

More likely "tens of millions" of Japanese would have died due to an invasion.

1945 Invasion of Japan.
