After a rash of burglaries on his construction sites, a Nashville builder installed a wildlife camera in one his properties. He caught the thief and posted the pictures on Craigslist.
With burglaries up in Nashville, people are looking for creative ways to stop them. Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said home burglaries are up 15 percent year to date over 2009.
An East Nashville builder may have the right idea. How about a deer camera? A deer camera is a hunting camera that is motion activated. The camera sits dormant until an animal passes by. The motion sensor activates the camera and begins recording.
Builder Daniel Fell refurbishes homes in East Nashville. Last week someone broke into one of his homes on Granada Street and stole construction material.
"He went through and tossed open another window, tossed some material outside, went back around and took it this way, so he probably lives close by," said Fell.
That same day Fell's carpenter got the idea to install the deer camera inside the house.
"It's infrared. It's night vision, and it's motion there's a motion sensor on it so he doesn't know he's being photographed," said Fell.
The next night the camera captured the burglar on tape. Now, Metro police are trying to track down the suspect.
Unfortunately, the suspect is not the only one police are looking for. Home burglaries are up in many parts of the city.

....around here too, seems Obamaworld brings out the very best.....keep your powder dry.
I recommended this same thing for a client’s site that had been hit a few times before. Still haven’t taken my advice and they’ve been hit severat times more.
show him this article
I will...thanks!
Too bad more condign measures are illegal. A .50 cal barrel, a single round, a trip wire, and a few other things make an excellent burglar catcher.
I’m hoping to see “Claymore Mines” in one of these.
There was a Mafia safehouse in the woods where we used to play as kids. When LEOs took it out, they had to remove booby traps, including wire-tripped shotguns and grenades. Funny how as kids, you have a sense to stay away from a place without really knowing why for sure.
“It’s been real trying. This year we’ve had a dramatic increase in burglaries than other years. I’m not quite sure what’s the driving force,” said detective Mark Woodfin, who works in the East Precinct.”
Yeah, I don’t get it. The recession ended in 2009 and everyone has a job now. Let’s ask obama.
Need to write a country song about a new “infestation” of rednecks in Nashville who shoot these burglars when they catch them.
Curly Putnam wrote a song about what happens to some.....
Well, generally nobody gets sentenced to death for burglaries in which nobody was killed. Being accosted by an angry home owner is a whole ‘nother risk, however....
GGGOH seems, if anything, a protest about the death penalty by romanticizing the prisoner and saying nothing about what precipitated the tragic end.
It’s a walls song as you know. His home is vibrant and Momma is waiting.
If you mean characterized by dreams of what lies beyond the walls of a boring prison, I guess so. It’s notable that nothing is said about how the prisoner got in that predicament, whether fair or unfair. Without the sympathy element, it wouldn’t be such a popular mood music song even today.
If you can tell me who Curly was talking about I’ll give you a C for effort. You lost a letter for spouting off to early, and another letter for not having a clue.
You can take your “C” and stuff it because I don’t give an “F” about your, or any mortal’s, “grading” of me. I’m talking about what happens in this society, not what “Curly” said he meant.
