Blue States See Red Over Redistricting [People are moving to Red States.]
American Spectator ^ | 10/1/2010 | Daniel J. Flynn

Posted on 10/01/2010 6:59:45 PM PDT by SeattleBruce

...What reapportionment says about the future is perhaps less interesting than what it says about the present.

Red states are gaining population relative to blue states because of the divergence in policy. Jobs, and thus people, flock to red states because they are generally easier places to do business. If the states are, as Justice Brandeis posited, laboratories of democracy, then places such as New York, which will have lost sixteen electoral votes since 1960, and Massachusetts, which will have gone from fourteen to nine seats in those five decades, must be considered failed experiments....

The blue states should be colonized with red state conservatives and their ungodly communist governments thrown into the sea of failure and sorrows they cause.

Good news is that the majority of lefties, the college marxists and such, have lower reproductive rates compared to conservatives.

Wasn't the Free State Project and attempt to colonize New Hampshire like that?

Unfortunately, sending conservatives to liberal states is like sending dogs to tick infested fields. The dogs aren't likely to win without some serious pest control. In the opposite way, liberals moving to conservative states are like moving those ticks to an unifested kennel. It won't be good for the dogs either.

“They are trying to ruin Florida, my home state.”

I would think that FL, with its Snowbirds and tourists from all over is a unique case - although Conservatives have held their own there (barely as it turns out - I guess that may prove your point!) In any case I wish you well. I guess as in all things, the good news is balanced by the bad elements within it. However, stronger red states could result. That should be our focus - building stronger economies in all of the red states and in all places using Conservative principles. And the defending and proselytizing Conservative principles. I use that word because we're up against a propaganda mind-washing machine (that's finally getting weaker.)

Not to mention gays! Now, that leaves us only with muslims to contend with on that count.

The parasite metaphor is fairly apt. I continue my message about reaching previously untouchable liberals and sealing the Conservative economic (and social) message in their minds.

Strike while the iron is HOT. Some of us may want to hunker down, but I say “CHARGE!”

Hopefully it’s the few ‘reds’ that are fed up living with low-life ‘blues’.

Right, I think reds and red leaners outnumber the blues and blue leaners about 60 or 65% to 40 or 35%

I’ve converted a Clinton voter (my wife) and a lady friend of mine an Obama voter. What I’ve found is the apolitical just don’t know what to believe beyond the commercials. The worst thing we could possibly do is allow our message to be moderated. A buddy of mine who was entirely apolitical when I first met him just this week said he can’t stomach voting for any Democrats. Only about 20% of Democrats are not trainable. They are the die hard liberals and they count on more than anything a public that is confused and disengaged with the issues.

I’ve lived in the south, and i’m glad i’m not welcome. Don’t kid yourself, the south isn’t a bastion of conservative values.

I don't like the whole "Blue State" is supposed to be Democrat and "Red State" is supposed to be Republican nomenclature.

It is confusing, and deceiving. Up until Presidential elections just a few years ago, Red State was Dem and Blue was Republican. I remember watching all the TV shows during Reagan's two victories and George H. Bush's win over Dukakis, and that is the way it was.

The MSM switched it around, because they didn't like the RED = COMMUNIST = DEMOCRAT association. They have been doing this since 2000 - prior to that it was reversed.

"This unofficial system of political colors used in the United States is the reverse of that in most other long-established democracies, where blue represents right-wing and conservative parties, while red represents left-wing and social democrat parties."

So, what the MSM did was deliberate.

To this day, when I hear Blue State, I think Republican.

I refuse to give in to the MSM's delusion, and I call Blue States as Republican.
