EXCLUSIVE: Witnesses in Defense Dept. Report Suggest Cover-Up of 9/11 Findings (report is from 2006)
FoxNews ^ | 10/04/10 | Catherine Herridge

A document obtained and witnesses interviewed by Fox News raise new questions over whether there was an effort by the Defense Department to cover up a pre-9/11 military intelligence program known as "Able Danger."

At least five witnesses questioned by the Defense Department's Inspector General told Fox News that their statements were distorted by investigators in the final IG's report -- or it left out key information, backing up assertions that lead hijacker Mohammed Atta was identified a year before 9/11.

Don’t believe so.

The publisher has republished, redacting
the controversial segments.

It was inexplicable to me at the time that Gorelick was allowed to be a member of that committee. I thought she should have been called to testify, as a possibly hostile witness.

For those that would like a reference to a very partial Able Danger and closely related set of activities of "way back then", perhaps the following site may be of some interest. Due to a failed disk on a previous PC I used during the 2003 through 2007 time frame I lost tons of bookmarked sites and references at FR relating to the Iraqi War, reasons for going to war with Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., so knowing what it like to have lost literally hundreds of documents retrieved from the Harmony Database so ably translated by jervitas of FR, people working for Steven Hayes and others... Let me at least enter one reference to those days to newer freepers that may not be to familiar with what went down, regarding Able Danger.
The site name is "History Commons" .
I do not endorse the total accuracy of the data provided but do sense the over all presentations are at least somewhat or more so accurate.
The action on my part is to at least provide a historical point of reference to the events that lead up to 9/11 from a part of the Intel orgs then responsible.
Nothing more on my part is claimed for debate. Again the intent is to introduce at least a partial understanding regarding the days some of us where informed on at this site regarding what the Army Intel operation Able Danger, to those newer members that perhaps where not familiar with the project. Nothing more is suggested from this posting.
I do not seek response for it's sake. I simply want to provide at least a shred of what many of us back then read on a regular basis at this site.

Actually, I would pin the most blame on Secretary of Defense William Perry. Before they shut down Weldon’s investigation he did get an admission that Atta and the Brooklyn cell didn’t qualify for the protections of the “Gorelick Wall”.

There’s another reason they got rid of Able Danger’s work: because Able Danger had found suspicious activity regarding SecDef Perry, which was corroborated by a FOIA Release finally forced after Perry was out of office. I just posted it on another thread. I’ll go fetch it and post it here.

Here’s what I posted on a different thread about this:

My computer has been running great all day, but FR froze up just when I was about to post about Able Danger and what they found regarding SecDef Perry, which is why Able Danger was stopped and their information - including info about Mohammad Atta - was destroyed. The datamining showed suspicious connections with people at Stanford University, SecDef Perry, and the Chinese military.

Perry staved off a FOIA request until he was out of office, when a judge ruled that the documents had to be disclosed to Judicial Watch, and they revealed that it was Perry’s own company which had sold forbidden satellite encryption technology to what Perry had known was a company owned by the Chinese military leader’s wife.

The Thompson Report had recommended that Janet Reno investigate potential Chinese front companies, and the Cox Report had recommended Reno investigate the connections between the Chinese and Clinton’s campaign funding. Reno refused to investigate either thing. Shortly after she refused was when Able Danger was begun.

When Perry found out that Able Danger had been able to discover the suspicious connections he got rid of Able Danger’s data to cover his own axx even if that meant throwing away actionable intelligence that could have prevented 9-11.

IOW, 3,000+ innocent Americans died to cover our own Secretary of Defense’s axx - the one who swore to defend the nation and the Constitution.

And the 9-11 Commission refused to look at that issue, partly because Jamie Gorelick was on the commission, and was the person who instituted the policy of forbidding the FBI, CIA, and military intelligence groups from sharing actionable intelligence with each other - although it was admitted that Atta and the Brooklyn cell didn’t qualify to have the protection of the “Gorelick Wall” anyway. The records destruction was entirely because Perry KNEW Able Danger’s work was accurate since it had thrown up red flags about his own treachery. He knew the technology was effective, which makes it all the more heinous that he threw away actionable intelligence regarding a potential AQ terror cell.

When Rep Curt Weldon was pushing to get to the bottom of this, the DOD forbade Schaffer and any of the others from testifying before Congress, and Weldon was defeated in the next election after a big democratic smear campaign. Schaffer and the other members of Able Danger were also smeared and gagged. It’s Schaffer’s book that the military bought the entire first printing of, in order to keep anybody from being able to read it.

When I look at the crap that the military lawyers are coming up with in the Lakin case I think of the way our DOD sold out this nation to cover their good ol’ boy, and I’m disgusted.

For our FRiends who may not be familiar with Keywords...click on the Keyword “bojinka” that has been added to this thread (just above comment #1). The result is a list of FR articles to which the Keyord “bojinka” has been added, going back more than nine years.

Absolutely heard back then as well that information was known during the Clinton administration about possible attacks. He never did anything - so then when it happened it was all Bush’s fault. Bush was only in office for what - 8 months?

Curt Weldon was defeated by present Senate candidate Joe Sestak. Joe Sestak was personally backed by Sandy Berger and friends to run against Weldon. This is one of the biggest political coverups in recent history.
