Much has been made of Sarah Palin’s impact in elections this year – and whether her endorsement was what made the difference for Joe Miller in Alaska, Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, and numerous other candidates.
But her stamp of approval may not always be a help, especially when it comes to the general election.
A new poll in California found that Ms. Palin is a highly polarizing figure there and that most Californians view her negatively.

I don’t think Palin is hurting Fiorina at all. She’s helping. But FioRINO avoiding her on her Oct 16 trip out their might be the end of any enthusiasm for Gnarly.
I like DeVore.
But its tough trying to win a state-wide race as a Republican in California. You think, how could we lose?
Then you look around you at the people in line with you at the polling place and you think, we are so screwed.
Palin, no Palin, the problem with California is Californians. Lots of nice people. Lots of clueless ones that can’t balance a budget to save their lives. Keep sending the same people to Sacramento enacting the same policies and keep getting the same disastrous results and can’t figure out why. And they’ll do it all again.
These are the people we are asking to vote Republican.
I think the opposite. It is the CA GOP rank and file that are by and large pre-programmed for RINOs, just like here in WA. A strong, confident REAL conservative would do well in both locations. But the GOP powers that be fight them all the way.

Actually, I don’t disagree with you. A Repub is a tough sell in California but a conservative is not a tougher sell, in fact a “moderate” is a tougher sell because they can’t distinguish themselves clearly enough from the Democrats. A conservative has no choice but to present his case boldly. A moderate is forever trying to downplay the differences and consequently can’t persuade anyone.

If Carly wants to win, she will. I just haven’t seen that fire in the belly, the energy, the ability to generate the excitement needed to overpower Boxer. Carly, call Sarah.
Democrats have a nearly 2-1 lead in registration, and most Independents lean left. Irreputable fact. Only in a year like this does someone like Fiorina have a chance, and she still must run a nearly flawless campaign.
Though not socially conservative enough for most here, Campbell would be ahead by 15. His forte is economics, which is exactly the sort of knowledge needed in the Senate at this time in our history. He would have added 75 points to the IQ level of the vanquished Boxer.
Let’s face it if all states had the California electorate, the nation would be sunk already. Some want politicians to act like lions in a state where the voters are liberal jerks.
Well, I live here. And based on the results of prior elections, such as Simon and Herschenson, DeVore most definitely could win here.
Heck even in the Recall, McClintock/Arnold took 70% of the vote -- and that is when Arnold was running on a conservative platform. Conservatism sells. RINO middle-mush does not.
The problem is, the RINO squishes running the GOP in California won't LET a conservative get on the ballot. They went out and wooed Carly and Meg to run. Then they send out their minions to promote the "they can't win" mantra in regards to any conservative.
There is only one reason conservatives don't win in California: their own party apparatus won't lift a finger to put them on the ballot. (And if they get there on their own, they stab them in the back and sabotage their campaign).

It wasn't that long ago that this State nearly elected Bill Simon after an incompetent campaign with his own party stabbing him in the back. Since then, what remained of the conservative GOTV ground game has been completely disassembled. The CAGOP doesn't want us even trying; they think they can buy the offices they actually seek.

Unlike many here, I actually like Tom personally. Although he thinks he knows a lot about economics, he has no concept for why his social preferences are so terribly costly to State government. His thinking is compartmentalized and he is easily misled (especially in matters of foreign policy). Both he and Fiorina are unrepentant globalists. Either one is especially bad in the Senate.
Many Californians are illegal aliens from several eras.. including the current one.. Most/many see themselves as not Americans but Mexicans.. They are proud of the toilet they hail from.. I was raised there(calif.).. and its much worse than when I was a kid.. At least then most/many wanted to be Americans and Mexicans at the same time.. a serious confusion..

Fiorina would NOT have gained the GOP nomination without the Palin endorsement.
DeVore’s hissy fit and unmanly, immature response to Palin’s endorsement of Fiorina told me all I need to know about him.

If Fiorina wins and it is perceived that Sarah Palin helped achieve it that should really shake up the libs.
