It isn’t just your mom that thinks that, it is one of the top political “gotchas”, everybody misses that one.

Here it is mentioned in a Washington Post article. I have other sources, but it is not in dispute, so all sources agree on the fact.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/21/AR2007122101415.html
“First, there are women, who used to vote disproportionately Republican. (In 1960, for instance, women backed the Republican Richard M. Nixon, with his 5 o’clock shadow, over the dashing Democrat John F. Kennedy.)”

Back to the issue. Why do so many women hate COD? DE is not so liberal on abortion that they would be so against her? I just cant figure it out. Is it because Coons is more pro teachers unions and that powerful lobby has convinced women to vote against her?

“A lib just is incapable of letting a conservative have any unchallenged comment.”

Especially a lib presser. And they wonder why we detest them when they claim neutrality?

According to Rove and Krauthammer it was impulsive and selfish to vote for her. But she knocked off RINO Castle and is handing Coons his shorts.

“and edit Christine’s answer so she sounds as dumb as possible.”

And call that ‘coverage.’ They are truly shameless propagandists.

“but the wall to wall coverage of it seems a bit ridiculous.”

TV News loves wall to wall coverage - and yes, it is ridiculous!

I didn’t see the debate and the articles I read didn’t mention all that much. Who do you guys think won it, and by how much? Try to be unbiased. Do you think this helps or hurts Christine O’Donnell or will it not have much affect?

“And speaking of Palin....I like COD well enough, but if Palin had been up there next to him, Coons would have been on the floor in five minutes, staked out with high heels and crying like a baby.”

That’s a great image!

“Castle would have crushed Coons and given the GOP an immediate +1 pickup.”

You mean plus .4 don’t you?

Everyone knew O'Donnell would have a harder time getting elected than the leftist Castle, but she's a Conservative and Castle is a liberal. I'm one of the people who am glad to have seen Castle lose regardless of what the outcome of this election is. Castle can't even bring himself to support O'Donnell because he wants the candidate with his same liberal ideology to win, and that's Coons. O'Donnell can win this and no one should give up on her. We should be working as hard as we possibly can all the way up until election day.

Thanks. I flipped and missed some of it - but saw it starting with the part with the student questions (about the last 1/2 hour).

Coons statement on gays in the military: one of his heroes is Harry Truman who was against segregation in the military and for blacks serving side by side with whites (paraphrasing). It’s the argument that Dims have used many times. IMHO one cannot compare integration of blacks with gays serving openly - it’s like comparing apples with oranges (skin color v.s. ‘preferences’).

The comments on here re the witchy moderator are so true, from what I’ve seen so far. Purring ‘Mr. Coons, what do you think about blah” v.s. growling at COD.

Oh, she cuts off COD, re Coons’ family biz; but, when he says, that makes no sense, she says, OK, continue.

She wouldn’t let COD respond to Coons’ statement on energy.
Coons doesn’t want off-shore drilling in DE because of great beaches, fishing, tourist industry, etc., but mentioned wind technology (I thought I heard him say off-shore).

I can’t imagine Coons working across the aisle, unless they were extreme RINOs.

She did it again - asked her a question, Christine starts to answer and then she cuts her off. She cut Coons off at the end, and said ‘my apologies for interrupting’.

From what I saw, I think COD did well (loved the references to Harry’s pet). The only question I think she slipped on a bit is the 1 on the SC, but I understand. Hope more comes out in the news about Coons’ family (W L Gore) and fuel cells as well as issues w poison that some of mentioned here.

I thought Coons did OK, too; however, even though this is the 1st time I’ve heard him speak, I don’t trust his words at all. He seems rather snarky and like he could be a mean person (I don’t see him reaching across the aisle as he claims; and, agree w COD that he’d be a rubber stamp for Obama/Reid/Nancy). He actually reminds me of a younger version of Reid, maybe that’s why Reid called him his ‘pet’.

Just my $.02

Get out the vote for her and don't sit on your laurels waiting for divine intervention.

F Rino’s...

The concessions that would have had to be made to get that “+1” are way too costly. Its good that we can clearly draw the lines of those people who want to crush real freedom and those who want to regain it.

Its much better to know EXACTLY which direction to shoot in when its time to fight.

A nice ‘debate’ tonight

There were times it looked more like an interrogation than a debate. The seething, hostile tone, especially from the female moderator, was plainly evident. At one point, late in the evening, all three -- including Coons -- were questioning O'Donnell simultaneously. That, plus the fact the probing questions were posed to O'Donnell first, allowing Coons time to gather himself, told me that event was meticulously arranged to ensure her as a failure. Aside from the unfortunate vapor-lock on the SCOTUS question, I thought COD acquitted herself well.

Just caught some highlights of the COD vs.Coons debate on F&F with Michelle Malkin’s analysis.

Conservative candidates are handicapped from the get-go with the likes of Tom Broken, Woof Blitzem etc., They should demand a second moderator for balance.

Do you believe everything you read in the Washington Post?

I usually insert a negative into any sentence I read there, in order to see the truth.

You posted this three times. The RINO Republican hurts the party in the long run. Spector, Jefford, Scozzafava, Snowe, and Collins undermine the party's attempt to establish an identity.

Yes, there are advantages in being in the majority, especially when it comes to setting the legislative agenda and committee chairmanships. But in the long run, a party that cannot not distinguish itself from the Dems, will collapse.

Ronald Reagan said, “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”

So having a clone of Specter or Voinovich chair a committee would help Delaware how?
