FIRST LADY CAMPAIGNED INSIDE POLLING PLACE
Thu Oct 14 2010 16:19:25 ET

First lady Michelle Obama appears to have violated
Illinois law -- when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!

The drama began after Mrs. Obama stopped off at the
Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote.
After finishing at the machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key.

She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.

"She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband's agenda going," Campbell said.

According to the pool reporter at the scene, the conversation took place IN the voting center not far from the booths.

Illinois state law -- Sec. 17-29 (a) -- states: "No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place."

A top Ilinois State Board of Elections official tells the DRUDGE REPORT how Mrs. Obama may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally.
"You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?" the official explained late Thursday. "I mean, she's prety well liked and probably doesn't know what she's doing."

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS ELECTIONEERING
When questioned about the brazen nature of Mrs. Obama's campaigning, press secretary Robert Gibbs defended the action.

"I don't think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband's agenda," Gibbs smiled.

Isn’t that illegal? What’s wrong with these people?

Laws only apply to J6P, not to the "rulers" and their connected supporters.

Does this rise to the level of campaigning and was it done within 100 feet?

Within the city of Detroit, the UAW picks up and busses in the people within a specific voting district and then takes them home. Most of them are the elderly who can't get around.

Once INSIDE THE POLING STATION, there is an individual passing out a pamphlet which is identical to the butterfly ballots commonly used in these poling stations.

All the voter has to do is lay down the pamphlet on top of the butterfly ballot and vote according to the pamphlet. The pamphlet is complete with a picture of each individual running for office with a red "X" of the individual who is not recommended for election.

This was brought to my attention back in the 2000 or 2004 election by my niece's husband, who was from Texas, who voted for the first time here on Detroit's East Side. He waited 3 hours in line and was one of only a handful of whites voting in that particular precinct and watched as the busses pulled in.........The pamphlet I mentioned was given to him AFTER he entered the polling station.

As for the claim about the UAW offering bus service, that was substantiated by my niece's husband and also verified by company's UAW benefits rep who was a friend of mine.

In what polling place was she? The elections aren’t until November.

“And here I thought this woman had held a JD at one point, and that her ‘husband’ had taught a class about voting rights.”

And practiced law in Illinois...

Yes, it's illegal to do so.

The commie bitch needs to go down for this, but the state media will issue her a get out of jail card. Or is it the race card? I lose track sometimes. All I know is that if a Republican First Lady had done this, it would be front page and primetime news for the next three weeks.

It took me a while to find it, because the IL Election Code's organization is a bit convoluted. But, I found it:

http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/ilstatutes/10/5/29/29-12

Sec. 29‑12. Disregard of Election Code. Any person who knowingly (a) does any act prohibited by or declared unlawful by, or (b) fails to do any act required by, this Code, shall, unless a different punishment is prescribed by this Code, be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.

If she just advocated that everyone should vote, that's not electioneering. But, if she even hinted at supporting any candidate, party, or agenda, then she should be arrested and charged.

I'm not holding my breath.

People were voting. It is an election vote. It is a polling place.

The point is, she can support her husband’s marxist agenda, but, she CANNOT try to tell others how to vote - as she did.

However, nothing to see here folks, move along!

Lord, I hate these double standards.

So what is the penalty for this?

In IL, Class A misdemeanor.

See my posts 37 and 70.

I saw it on the news this morning. I don’t remember this kind of thing happening in the past, at least not to the extent that it is today.
