Pentagon to comply with court order to end 'don't ask, don't tell'
Washington Post ^ | Oct. 14, 2010 | Sandhya Somashekhar and Ed O'Keefe

The Pentagon announced Thursday that it will comply with a court order to stop enforcing its "don't ask, don't tell" policy barring gays from serving openly in the military, even as the Obama administration asked a federal judge to delay implementation of the ruling.

Officials say they need time to institute new policies to ensure that the change won't affect combat readiness or morale. The administration has said it will appeal the ruling to the the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

In the meantime, "the Department of Defense will of course obey the law," Col. Dave Lapan, a department spokesman, said in an e-mail to reporters. The Pentagon will cease investigations and discharges of service members found to be in violation of the policy, officials said.

Imho, the Log Cabin Republicans need to be expunged from any credible Republican organizations or events. They have revealed their narcissism is more important to them than this country is.

I’m looking forward to new methods of attacking our enemies, such as the bitch slap. That will show em! After all, the Europeans armies are feared throughout the world right?

This was predictable. This admin isn’t about to fight this - it’s an agenda item accomplished by court order. Who needs the people or their reps?

If DADT is struck down, what is preventing a return to a pre-DADT policy? No new policy or legislation is in place.

What about the folks already serving that did not sign up for the type of duty this capitulation will guarantee?

I think the Zero regime is making a faux appeal, but it’s all theater.

I guess what follows will be court martials for “gay-bashing.” It won’t matter if it really happens or not, just make the allegations, press the charges.

This is how this works. The President & staff will get an injunction, and the Supreme Court will rule that he has authority over this...and that a judge can’t make such a ruling.

Then we proceed into 2011, with the President stating that he doesn’t have the authority but the Republican House and Republican Senate do...so he wants them to vote on this (which they won’t list in their top twenty things to get done in 2011). The President will comment about this constantly...along with immigration reform (for Latinos)....and special interests. So DADT will continue through all of 2011 and 2012....being used as a political tool. The President can issue an executive order just like Ike....and fix this if he wants. The second piece that would require modification is the court martial book for the military....which would require a page or two of modification...which again....he could do if he wants.

The comical thing here? Think about this....for 18 years DADT stood. Now some Log Cabin Republicans get the right judge and trigger this episode? Any President has authority to cancel DADT. But he really doesn’t want that to happen as long as the Republicans can be forced into the corner over this.

The "diversity police" will start counting the numbers and demand quotas for BLTG promotions.

Meaning, all heterosexuals will quickly be purged from the military with less than honorable discharges?

Starting with alleged anti-gay wisecracks allegedly told while waiting in mess hall or latrine lines?

Leaving the US with a Euro-disco military to fight the Red Chinese in the next Korean War??

Why don’t we just spare ourselves the indignity and surrender to Kid Potato Head now.

:-(

Imho, the Log Cabin Republicans need to be expunged from any credible Republican organizations or events.

They are Republicans because they believe they have to infiltrate the GOP ranks to acheive their agenda on homosexuality.

Michael Moore has suggested a similar tactic for liberals to take over the NRA and thwart it by becoming dues paying members and electing someone like Moore as president.

There is a law.

And there is an Executive order.

The executive order signed by Bill Clinton is the DA/DT policy.

The law still stands. It says YOU MUST ask, and if Gay -you’re out....

But I suspect, the law won’t be followed or the policy.

Log Cabin splinters as gay conservatives exit
The Washington Times ^ | April 15, 2009 | S. A. Miller

A couple of former Log Cabin staffers broke off to form GOProud, a new political advocacy group, amid complaints the older organization was aligned too closely with liberal gay and lesbian causes and failed to provide an effective voice in Washington for gay Republicans...

The Log Cabin Republicans’ “left-of-center positions on important issues have bothered me ... ,” Bruce Carroll, a persistent LCR critic, wrote on his GayPatriot.net blog, applauding the new group.

He continued: “LCR’s silence and unwillingness to stand up and be vocal on true gay conservative issues (outing of Republican staffers, increasing threat of gays being selectively aborted, peril gays face by Islamic extremists) has been mind-boggling. And LCR’s continued obsession in trashing Republicans, yet letting Democrats get a pass on their gay-related hypocrisies, has been infuriating.”

...”The inheritance tax is really a gay tax,” said Mr. LaSalvia, noting that without same-sex marriage, there is no tax exemption for inheritance from a gay partner. That’s the type of policy the traditional gay lobby isn’t going to touch.

How would you reconcile that footdragging scenario with the fallout Obama might receive based on allegations that he is actually gay and has any number of gay lovers? If Obama is gay he would have to make it clear that policy has in fact shifted no matter what the admin does on paper and that it is in fact good for gays both in and out of the military to have a temporary foot dragging strategy right now. Hmm, let’s see... if so, Obama might be expected to come out and say that it will take a couple of years to ensure policies are changed to protect against conservative backlash in the military ranks, deflecting blame off him and onto conservatives and heterosexuals. I imagine we’ll see soon enough...

I would intentionally loudly say a filthy anti-gay wisecrack in the presence of my Company CO and be pleased to get a less than honorable discharge to get out of today’s excuse for a military. I don’t tolerate queers very well. I would be having a hard time serving under a communist, Moslem CiC, too.
