(CNN) – Sen. John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, wants to make one thing clear, "I am not the one running for Senate."
McCain’s comments about Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell as a "nut job" while appearing on ABC's "This Week" program Sunday, immediately received harsh criticism and backlash. A response that day from the O'Donnell campaign mocked McCain for having "vast experience in politics and running for office." McCain is now firing back.
The 25 year-old, whose departure from conservative orthodoxy on some issues is no secret and has put her at odds with some in the GOP base, reminds the O'Donnell campaign and other critics in a blog post late Monday night that "I am not the one running for Senate. I am also not the only one with issues with Christine O'Donnell."
"I did not wake up Sunday morning expecting to create any kind of uproar and I am even more confused that people seem to be so angry,” adding that the more information and research she did the more "worrisome" she grew about O'Donnell's Senate bid.
McCain who states that she is not only critical of O'Donnell's "bizarre comments" of late regarding "witchcraft, anti-masturbation platforms, and her testament that she had secret information about China plotting to take over America,” clarifies that although she is not confident in O'Donnell, that "it is not the Tea Party as a movement that I have a problem with… but it is hard for me to take her candidacy seriously and I think it reflects badly on the movement."

What a coincidence! I had a movement today which (upon reflection) resembled Meghan McCain.
It felt so good to be rid of it. I bet it’d feel even better to be rid of Meghan.
Last night, I watched Meghan McCain on Rachel Maddow’s show. It was tough to watch. I’m sure the only reason she was invited on was because she called Christine O’Donnell a nutjob. Maddow was pressing her to slam Sarah Palin. Meghan would agree in a general sense.
Megan comes across as paranoid and bitter. Very sour personality. She mentioned her weight at least four times, said people always make fun of her on the web about it. She considers herself a role model for young girls, and said she has a large following. She appears to have an inflated sense of self-importance She was heavily made up, noticeably so. She never smiled once. She’s on her way to becoming a liberal. All the signs are there.
