NRA endorsements of Democrats focus only on Second Amendment issues

(Oct. 23, 2010) — It’s gotten much less attention than the disputed Veterans of Foreign Wars endorsement, but a similar debate is currently happening in the National Rifle Association, which endorsed Democratic U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton over his Republican challenger Vicky Hartzler while giving both Skelton and Hartzler an “A” rating. While she didn’t receive the NRA endorsement, Hartzler has also been touting her endorsements by two much smaller organizations, the Western Missouri Shooters Alliance and Gun Owners of America. Locally, the NRA also endorsed incumbent Missouri State Sen. Frank Barnitz, a Dent County Democrat, by giving him an “A-plus” rating, while giving his Republican challenger, State Rep. Dan Brown of Rolla, a slightly lower but still positive “A” rating, the same rating given to most other state representatives in the region, including Rep. David Day of Pulaski County and Rep. Don Wells of Texas County.

This is not to be believed.
That means if Pol Pot were President of the US but favored loose gun laws, VFW endorsement would follow.

They don’t get it. By supporting the individual democrat, they support the party that wants to remove the 2nd amendment from the constitution. Now, they can spend the money they would have spent on the “pro-2A” democrats and use it for a race where a anti-2A democrat is in a battle with a pro-freedom republican or indy.
Supporting evil just a little is supporting evil.

The NRA has sold its soul. Screw them.

The Second Amendment doesn't live inside a vacuum. That doesn't mean that the NRA has to broaden their scope but it does mean that the NRA should also be keeping an eye on who is actively defending the closely associated rights, that we are granted by our Creator, and enumerated by our Founding Fathers in the Bill of Rights.

We got a postcard from them Saturday, encouraging us to vote for two candidates, both of them dems.

The NRA likes to say that you can’t have the first amendment without the second amendment. It also works the other way around. The NRA cut its own deal on the Disclose Act, i.e., it got an exemption.

The NRA is neither pro-conservative or pro-Constitutional (except 2A). The NRA acts much like the rinos do. They love to make compromises with the Dems all the time. They almost sold out the 1A during the DISCLOSE act by trying to get a carve out from the Dems. Conservative gun owners should not have to constantly beg the NRA to do the right thing; the NRA should know better.
Conservatives don’t have to sell out their principles and compromise by supporting pro-gun Dems (just another Leftist). Conservatives can choose to become members of conservative pro-gun rights groups.
There is no reason to put the NRA ahead of conservative values anymore.

Any sitting US Senator that voted to confirm Kagan, Sotomayor, and Ginsberg should not get an NRA endorsement. Period. End of story.

It’s as simple as that. I’m an NRA life member and will remain so simply to vote against every current member of the board. The NRA needs to get a little dose of TEA.

Just trashed my new NRA magazine without even reading it because they put a “vote for” Jim Marshall (D) on the cover.

Voting to keep a Speaker Pelosi and a Democrat majority is NOT pro-2A.

It’s not.

It’s proved to me that the NRA is either tone deaf or short-sighted. Either way sucks for them.

Even giving the NRA the benefit of the doubt, they have basically admitted they fighting a static war in a dynamic environment. That dog don't hunt! The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) will be getting all my future financial support. The NRA? Done!

NRA: We are a ‘single issue’ organization — only when it suits us ... {Disclose Act]....

NRA - we’re only interested in the continuance of the NRA.

Gotta have a “foil” in order to have a reason for existance.

A GOA endorsement carries far more weight for me than one from the tone-deaf whores at NRA.

If Ike Skelton voted for Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker, then there is absolutely no way in the world that the NRA can defend giving him an “A” rating.

I just ran across a very good video of a speech by Alan Gura on You Tube while not showing any disrespect he points out some of the problems the NRA is making for itself.

“Just trashed my new NRA magazine...”

Same here in VA. Perrielo (D) who voted for all Obama legislation is their pick against the Republican Robert Hurt who also has an “A” rating. No more NRA for me! I’m joining the VCDL. They mean business!

They have been infiltrated and compromised. The NRA is now a RAT operation. Burn it down. Isn’t there a conservative gun organization?
