Just How Big Was The Stewart-Colbert Rally?
TPM ^ | 10/30/10 | Evan McMorris-Santoro

Posted on 10/30/2010 4:33:26 PM PDT by Tea Roll

No one seems to be sure exactly how many people packed the National Mall today for the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear, but there's one thing everyone can agree on: sanity and/or fear are extremely popular.

MTV's spokesperson told the Washington City Paper's Mike Madden that 250,000 people came out to see Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert take the stage Saturday, while Viacom (the parent company of MTV and Comedy Central, home to Stewart's and Colbert's show) told the New York Times' Brian Stelter that "well over 200,000" were in....

At the rally itself, Mythbusters hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage said they counted about 150,000....

To be sure, even the smaller estimates show an extremely large crowd for a DC event, even one in this year of tea party rallies packing the Mall and the Capitol lawn. I have been to many a tea party rally, from the big ones to the small ones, and jammed in the crowd at Stewart's rally as I was today I can say there was an amazingly big turnout....

Here is the Cobert Rally today from the best overhead picture I can find:

Here is the 9/12 Tea Party Rally almost in the same spot.

If you notice the Cobert rally starts at the rider statue (which is in front of the pond) and extends for about two blocks (with some going farther along the side). The 9/12 Tea Party Rally started on the Capitol lawn and extended almost all the way back to the Washington Monument. You can make out the blocks and, when compared, one can see how much larger the 9/12 event was.

The MSM told us there were only 60K at the Tea Party rally. Yet at Cobert's rally they are claiming there were 120K, even though the participants are less than half as many. Also at Glenn Beck's rally were were told there were 86K. Yet here is the picture of that rally.

So the MSM would like us to believe that there were more at Colbert's rally then at the 9/12 or the Beck rally? Pictures don't lie.

Beck raised Millions of dollars for our troops who have fallen in the line of duty, for their families...seems everyone forgets to mention that.

Was the entire point a crowd drawing contest?

Anyway, where is the fountain in the Stewart Rally photos? Did they have it in an entirely different direction, or location from every other rally?

I gotta say, that’s a pretty weak showing. Until now I had no idea of the crowd size, but that’s REALLY small.

I watched a little of this on CSpan. It looked bigger than 50,000 from their camera angle but from the shot in this thread, I think you are right, about 50,000 bussed in liberals.

Jon Leibowitz is the Yevgeny Yevtushenko of America.

A phony media rebel who is in fact a tool of the oppresive, Communist government.

That this phony newscaster (admitted by himself) is regarded as a news source by young people shows how degenerate our young generation is.

Come on, leave the newby alone. There is no zot needed. Glenn Beck's Honor rally on 8/28 was at least 21/2 times as large as the Insanity rally

Yep. The Wounded Warriors foundation. Not to mention the fact that Beck paid for everything but shipping people in to attend.

Great pics.

What are all those idiots holding, “Facts Not Fox” signs at the Stewart rally going to do when confronted with these...facts?

Consider that this whole ‘event’ is merely a TV show. A clown act for themselves. Who outside of the media cares, anyway?
