More Media Shenanigans: Delaware TV Station 'Forgets' to Broadcast O'Donnell 30 Minute Ads
Monday, November 1, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 11/01/2010 7:40:03 AM PDT by kristinn

The Christine O'Donnell campaign bought three thirty minute blocks of time on Delaware TV channel 28 to broadcast an infomercial on her candidacy the last two days before Tuesday's election.

Last night's scheduled 11:30 broadcast failed to happen. This morning, the scheduled 10:00 broadcast also failed to happen.

The O'Donnell campaign just Tweeted about the incidents:

This isn't our show either! We are told channel 28 "forgot" to air it...both times... even though we paid for the time slot last week.
4 minutes ago via txt

The infomercial, entitled We the People, was posted this morning to O'Donnell's campaign website and can be viewed here.

The next scheduled broadcast is for 3:00 p.m. today.

Looks like it’s airing now:

No it's not.
Do you know what "Airing" means?

Streaming it on their web site is NOT what they were paid for.

Of course.
But her campaign manager isn’t bright enough to think of this.

I did manage to save it to my hard drive from her web site. It is 124 Mb in MP4. I'm not sure whether YouTube accepts uploads that big.

Corrupt Bastards!

You're being too kind, melancholy. I heard this on Rush while I was out running errands. I hope and pray Christine has the last laugh although she's probably too much of a good person to laugh in their faces.

I don't see how the station can make her whole on this. A great many voters will have filled out their absentee ballots over the weekend and mailed them off this morning on the way to work.

That the opportunity to weigh 60 minutes of this candidate expressing her views and bonding with the voters were clearly stolen for her is not in question.

No matter what the outcome, the station clearly defrauded a candidate for purposes of disenfranchising the citizens of Delaware, as well as effectively disenfranchising every voter in the United States should she lose as a result.

Even if she does win, the crime has been committed, and the station should realize the consequenses.

Hopefully the state AG will bury the station and incarcerate those who conspired, cause we got a pretty good idea what Obama's boy will do.

Um, unless he loses tomorrow, the state AG's name is Beau Biden.

What the tv guy said was not unreasonable. I’ve worked with Comcast. I know what they used to want, and if they still want what they used to. They make reference to an obscure media format known as “tape”. Unless there was someone at the campaign that knew that this “tape” format was required, they might’ve assumed that a digital file would suffice.

10 years ago, Comcast wanted Beta SP. I happened to be owed favors by a production house with a Beta SP deck, and they made the dubs for me that I would deliver to Comcast.

I have no idea what Comcast in Wilmington(?) wants, but unless they checked all that out beforehand, it’s possible that the Christine campaign did not know exactly how to give them a Beta SP dub quickly.

I predict that Beau Biden will win tomorrow. Yes, it’s a Republican year, but the DE GOP in their ultimate wisdom, decided that Beau should run unopposed.

The size of the file is not a problem. Typically, 1GB file size limit for youtube.

The length could be a problem. Youtube might still have a 10 minute limit.

You or someone could cut it into 3 parts.

Doesn’t LIVE STREAM imply it’s showing what was airing on the channel at that moment?

I’m guessing that the “source” was the brain of the author.

HI-SEN:

Inouye(D)-84%
Cavasso(R)-16%

Nope. That one is way off. Even if it’s a 30 point race - that’s 65-35. Rasmussen had that as a 13 point race, not a 68 point race.

That dude is likely just making things up. But he gives us everything but the 6 “safe” or “never discussed” Dem seats. He even gives us DioGuardi, so that’s 5 Dem holds. He just made that all up. I’m not saying he’s wrong.

Looks to me like she blew it. I work in tv broadcast industry and when they say get it here by 5:30pm on Friday, it means 5:30pm on Friday...not 2 days later.

So sad, we would have had the Senate but now we won’t because this complete idiot was nominated. Sigh.

Lol, I was agreeing with his last line.
It would be great if she could win but I never thought of her as being a strong candidate either.

Right. But I’m sure they know that, so I guess they don’t give a rat’s @$$ either.
