Matthews' Strange Election Metaphor: Dems Like Bowie's Men At Alamo
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/01/2010 2:48:31 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

This could go down as the strangest simile of the election season . . .

Introducing this evening's Hardball, Chris Matthews likened the electoral plight of Democrats to the Battle of the Alamo, "as seen from inside the mission." In other words, Matthews casts the Dems as Jim Bowie's Americans, fighting a hopeless battle against the Mexicans, in which role Chris casts . . . the Republicans!

The (D) are really more like the guards at Auschwitz as the Allies advance. May want get your exfiltration plans in order. Double knot your running shoes. Break out your civvies. Check the weather, run to the rain.

2012 will likely be even better as the next cycle of Democraps come up for reelelection. The ones not under indictment anyway.

Well, Bowie and Travis shared joint command for a short period until Bowie became deathly ill. Nor did they get along very well. Travis then held sole command until the end.

However, Missy Chrissy was wrong to be sure. And it’s a bad analogy in any event.

Blame me for the Bowie reference, not Matthews. He never mentioned Bowie by name. He said that “for those on the left, watching tomorrow night’s election returns promises to be like the Battle of the Alamo, as seen from inside the Mission.” I extrapolated to Bowie.

I’ve gone back and changed the headline at NewsBusters to read: “Matthews’ Strange Election Metaphor: Dems Like Americans At Alamo”

I think he’s planning a cruse ship from Kansas to Texas.

His fondest wish is to travel in a time machine back to the 1920’s and visit President Lincoln.

;-)
The guy needs to go back to grade school….

How a propos. We just finished watching liberal historians “explain” why defending The Alamo to the death was a foolish thing to do. Mr. Matthews, being the liberal that he is, may want to consider the implications of his statement given the liberal view of the battle at The Alamo.

Whenever the A-clown use retarded references like this to describe politics, it denegrates and degrades real hroes. real men who gave it their all.
Panty-waste politicians have no business even being mentioned in the same sentence as our real American heroes.

Here’s a better analogy for these losers. They’re like Cornwallis, bottled up at Yorktown by George Washington’s patriot army, and tomorrow the band will be playing “The World Turned Upside Down”.

Right. If they were like the men at the Alamo they would have ran on Obamacare, Stimulus and repealing don't ask don't tell as well as amnesty.

Not that the men at the Alamo would have ever been for such things but the men at the Alamo were fighting and willing to die for what they believed in.

Hey, Chrissie, dontcha know that all the people defending the Alamo were massacred by General Santa Anna’s army? We can only hope the results tomorrow are that thorough.

Can't be true, Chrissy. The men at the Alamo were fighting against Mexican invaders.

John Wayne as Davy Crockett, sound quotes from the Alamo:

"Republic. I like the sound of that word."

"There's right and there's wrong. You gotta do one or the other."

Sure doesn't sound like a Democrat to me.

I would not object, in the least, if the congressional Democrats were wiped out...to a man.

Maybe it's a better simile than Chrissie thought...
