"Jerry Brown's 'Then'; still his 'Now' Today"
Hogue News ^ | August 1 2010 | Eric Hogue

Posted on 11/01/2010 6:27:37 PM PDT by SunkenCiv

...the seventies... then Governor Brown literally ignored the expeditiously burdensome escalation of property taxes to the point that the common people had to drive an initiative called "Prop 13" through a June 1978 ballot just to save their homes and businesses.

'Then', Governor Brown was quotes as saying that he didn't want to squander the whole state surplus (nearly $7.1 billion in surplus in 1977) on helping homeowners curb their growing residential taxes.

Brown's better idea was to spend from the surplus so to own and operate a communications satellite for California. Hence his nickname: "Moonbeam."

If you ask Jerry Brown today about his tax apathy 'then', his 'now' response is very peculiar.

In our current gubernatorial jaunt Jerry Brown maintains that he was against a legislative tax cut for property owners in 1977 because of his personal desired to hold on to the surplus in preparation for an anticipated an economic downturn; a premonition that Jerry Brown must have discovered channeling mystique religions while traveling around the globe with superstar Linda Ronstadt hanging on his arm.

...

Jerry Brown was Mayor of Oakland from January 4, 1999 until January 8, 2007. When Mayor Brown took over the reigns there was great concern surrounding education, crime and the city budget...

If you think Oakland's (Brokeland please) finances were bad 'then' you need to see them 'now' folks.

When you hear voters talk about Jerry Brown as if he is a human timeline of California historical events, and that his dance upon that timeline has him matured 'now' versus 'then' -- don't believe it. It is what it is; the evidence is clear. Jerry's 'then' will always be his 'now' -- no matter how hard he tries to run from the past.

By virtue of producing rent-free rent-a-rallies for liberal politicians and causes, Jim Jones engendered enormous amounts of good will from Democratic politicians and activists. They allowed their political ambitions to derail their governing responsibilities. Frisco pols like Harvey Milk never seemed to care how Jones could, at the snap of his fingers, direct hundreds of people to stack a public meeting or volunteer for a campaign. City Councilman Milk just knew that he benefitted from that control, and therefore never bothered to do anything to inhibit the dangerous cult operating in his city. Instead, he actively aided and abetted a homicidal maniac. It wasn't just local hacks Jones commanded respect from. He held court with future First Lady Rosalyn Carter, vice presidential candidate Walter Mondale, and California Governor Jerry Brown.

Meg needs to keep pounding the ad with Jerry telling the world he didn’t have a plan for anything, schools, jobs, crime or the environment when he ran for Governor last time.

In his own words to blows himself up! probably not the right choice of words in this day & age, BUT STILL TRUE!

Meg’s got a great new ad running showing moonbeam being interviewed after his election boasting about how much he lied—”it’s all lies!”

OMG, I remember the brawl over Prop 13. Dems were caterwauling non stop about how we would have no schools or police. The end of days.

I shudder to think how much worse CA would be if libtards could raid property taxes at will. They try nearly every election to slip some inchoherent proposition thru that will neuter parts of Prop 13.

Let’s bring back the old political campaign “Stop Brown rot”. While I’m not exactly 100% thrilled with Meg, she is by far the better option.

Was Linda Rondstadt a whore?

It's Jerry Brown vernacular used as a verb.
Jerry would know.
