Nancy Pelosi's clout for Bay Area will be missed

Nowhere will Nancy Pelosi's loss of the House speakership be felt more acutely than here in the Bay Area, where her power has been used to help steer hundreds of millions of dollars into infrastructure projects.

"It's difficult working the halls of Congress when you don't have the speaker of the House who understands specific facets of your region, and isn't there to help set up meetings," said Jim Wunderman, head of the Bay Area Council business group. "There will be a price to pay."

San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed said the loss would be felt in the South Bay as well.

"To the extent that there was an innovation agenda in the U.S. Congress, it really came out of Pelosi's office, along with Reps. Anna Eshoo and Zoe Lofgren," Reed said. "I doubt the new guy, John Boehner, is even going to understand what Silicon Valley is all about."

Nothing does the body politic quite so much good as a vigorous (D)elousing.

Fire Nancy Pelosi as Election Results from America’s Votes

By Andrew Zarowny

Yesterday, at long last, the November 2010 mid term elections took place. America voted, America spoke and America said ‘Fire Nancy Pelosi!’ The two-term Speaker of the House was dethroned. Queen Nancy Pelosi won her local reelection for 2010 in Congress. But Ohio Republican John Boehner will most likely be replacing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the next Congress. The election results were also rough on Barack Obama. The Tea Party played a huge role in last night’s victories from South Carolina to Utah. So what happened and why?

Since becoming Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has presided over the most partisan, the most Progressive-Liberal and the most cowardly Congress in history. Not only that, if all of that were not bad enough, they also spent more money in the four years she reigned over the budget than any other Congress has during a four-year period, adding nearly six trillion dollars of new debt on the backs of American taxpayers. I should also add that her Congress failed miserably to pass vital legislation, such as the budget for this fiscal year, something which was due back on April 15th. Some 13 funding resolutions are still sitting on her desk waiting to be voted on. Dealing with the budget is supposed to be the primary function of Congress!

Tuesday’s election was less about supporting Republicans as it was about stopping the Far-Left agenda of Obama, Reid and Pelosi. They began in 2009 owning it all, the White House plus super majorities in both the House and the Senate. The Democrats could have passed any legislation they wanted to. They certainly did pass bills that the American people opposed, such as the health care take over and the carbon-climate ‘Cap & Tax’ bill. Even their reform bill for Wall Street and the big banks failed to deal with the real causes of our current economic problems; Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Federal Reserve, and the netherworld of the $700 trillion dollar derivatives market.

Despite having plenty of time to act on the soon to be expiring Bush tax breaks, Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues ran away early. Perhaps a compromise will now be resolved during the lame duck session between now and the end of the year. The White House is already floating a willingness to back down on it’s position, but will Nancy act?

Nancy Pelosi won her reelection bid for 2010, which was never in doubt. But the election results of have cost House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of her all-powerful position as John Boehner will most likely replace her. America voted and said ‘Fire Nancy Pelosi’ as the leader of the Congress. There is doubt now that she will even carry on as Minority Leader. The Tea Party helped the GOP win key elections in South Carolina and elsewhere, leaving Barack Obama nervous about 2012. The legacy Nancy Pelosi will leave is one of never before have the so Far-Left Socialist spent so much in so short a time. Rumors that she may consider retiring would be welcome.
