State Legislators Must Now Fix Voter Registration Law
Rick Santorum - Morning in America | 11/5/2010 | Chiller

Posted on 11/05/2010 6:59:15 AM PDT by chiller

Now IS the time for state legislators to fix fraud-ridden voter registration laws. This is one of many crucial steps needed to eliminate voter fraud and to counter George Soros' SoS Sec/State agenda.

Rick Santorum had a bit late on his Friday show. The Iowa elections official that was interviewed is pushing for provisional status for all same day registrees.

This vanity thread is an attempt to put this on the radar with state houses now in Republican control.

They won't. Remember, if the states wanted to, they could make the voting process as secure as the lottery. To some states' credit, they do this, by requiring ID to vote (even providing free IDs to non-drivers) among other things.

Of course, as long as the courts believe that those who have no business voting should be voting, nothing will change.

Purge voter rolls! There’s so many fake registrations from 2008.

Defund ACORN under any name.

Prosecute New Black Panthers and any others who broke the law.

Oklahoma passed a voter ID requirement in the recent election.

We must go back to paper ballots across the board. No More early voting.

Voting to be done at specific polling places and between the set hours of 6:00-6:00local time PERIOD.

Identification must be provided

If someone can't get their ass to the polling place during that day and time TOUGH SH*T they miss the vote. If someone doesn't care enough about this country to make voting a priority then they should sit out the election. If they can't provide ID, none of this provisional ballot crap either, they miss the vote. PERIOD

If we truly had voter ID, we could control about 95% of voting. There is no 100% fix for anything. But many on this site oppose voter ID as if it is something that will lead us further towards the Apocalypse.

amen to all. I vote for same day voting, with only absentee ballots allowed.

It's also a disgrace the way military votes are ignored. No election results should be certified until military votes are counted, which should get the SoS office off their ass lest their state's results are delayed for weeks. Imagine the shame of the Sec. of State who's incompetence delayed release of his states's election results.

With the ease of making fake ID, even a requirement that the voters show ID when voting doesn’t solve the problem of voter fraud.

I voted absentee because I was due out of state on Tuesday. A picture ID and a sworn statement signed at the courthouse were required.

Voter fraud should be the # 1 item for the new congress. Scamming the system should be a federal offense.

I agree, but expand the hours from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

Most times I go vote before work, but that’s not always possible, and 6:00pm isn’t going to cut it on the backside.

Need to purge the voter roles, and make everyone, re-register. Valid birth certificate or naturalization, and proof of residency required.

Photo ID required to vote.

Absentee ballot with reviewed case and verification.

Arrest and stiff penalties (mandatory jail time) for voter intimidation and electioneering in the polling places.

LOL! you made 2 good points in post 8... I like the first one, but the one I had in mind was your suggestion about the military ballots.

Yes it is a disgrace and it’s been intentional because the military, traditionally, has mostly voted for republicans. This year was the worst I’d ever seen though and of course it was intentional; especially because of the way the maniac has treated our troops. You know they are unhappy and concerned. We have an insane cic who hates the military.

Note that when Congressional seats are involved, Congress is Constitutionally authorized to set the rules for the elections of its members.
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Place of Chusing Senators. (Art 1, Sec. 4)
Congress could set rules providing a de facto federal standard for elections, and it seems unlikely that any state would want to maintain two separate systems.

Voting should be contained to 12/13 hours max. Employers cannot fire someone for coming in late or leaving early to vote. It is law that employers are to allow for voting.

Right on about purging the voter roles. They are now so tainted that is the only true way to get it clean.

The U.S. Constitution governs presidential elections (as the morons as SCOFLA found out in 2000). The state Legislatures determine the method of choosing their electors but if a state chooses to use voting, all kinds of restrictions come into play (no poll tax, literacy test, etc.).

Each fraudulent vote cancels out a valid one. The rights of the cancelled out voter are violated. The Federal Government has to protect those rights. Voting reform safeguards need to be in place to protect the presidential election. Then let a state try to justify to its citizens why the state and local elections deserve a separate, less secure system.

Ideas for reform:

The laws governing removal of dead/moved people from election rolls need to be enforced, before the election rather than whining about it afterward.

To me this is one way to get a quick upgrade in the validity of the existing voter roles. Take it a few steps farther and with the use of computers/technology it shouldn’t be that hard to do once the software is developed and implemented.

Things like deaths, marriages, births, felony convictions, residential property tax role changes, drivers license changes, etc should all be looked at and info sent to the voter registration group for review for leaving or deleting the registration.
