I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.

So, Phil Griffin, what about the $2 million you donate to politicians each year through GEPAC? Oh, that’s right: that’s different. Those donations are made “spontaneously” by G.E. employees. They contribute to your PAC, and then they have to ask you for a raise.

Well, I take the first amendment pretty seriously and don't necessarily think that a publicly held company has the right to enforce something like this.

On the other hand he did sign a contract and has the personal responsibility to live up to the terms of the contract. It is not at all surprising that he is not at all the kind of person to honor his word.

He deserves to be suspended. I question the legal basis on Constitutional grounds (IANAL.)
