You could easily be right — after all, does anyone really believe that the network didn’t know about this until now? I like the “indefinitely suspended” part though. Remember when Norm what’s his name did SNL’s Weekend Update, and got suspended by the head of NBC (who was friends with OJ) because Norm made cutting jokes about OJ pertaining to the murders and trial? He was held to his contract, but given nothing to do. The idea was, retaliation with a view to stalling his career.

You usually nullify any contractual protection you have by f’ing up that badly. I am sure that part of the “breach” provisions included “gross violations of company policies”, which a partisan political donation certainly would be for any news organization.

I like how everybody is getting upset over Olbermann's donations, and nobody is raising an eyebrow at the fact that his bosses are donating a lot more to Democrats and Republicans.

The CEO of GE donated quite a bit of money to Democrats, but more to Republicans this year. On the other hand, the CFO of GE donated more to Democrats than Republicans this year.

If anybody wants to know why somebody like Olbermann was even given a cushy job at a GE company in the first place, you need only look at the upper executives who favor the liberals.

It's no wonder that GE makes out like bandits with all kinds of federal money when they send their lapdogs like Olbermann on the air to make Nobama look as good as possible. I'm actually surprised that Olbermann was fired or suspended. Looking through lists of GE executives, they really do like giving money to liberal politicians.

The Kos Kids and DUmmies are blowin’ a gasket over this. It’s pretty funny. A quick general summary of their sentiments: “Holy S! F that S! UnFnbelievable! What the F?! F all this “Fair & Balanced” S!!”

Ha. Haha. Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Man, I love this.

re: “news organization”

you give way too much credit to PMSNBC

“cabal of propaganda hacks” would be a more accurate descriptor

Does Microsoft still own an 18% share of MSNBC?

As far as I know, yes. Comcast purchsed the GE/Universal owned parts, not the Microsoft parts.

Microsoft still owns 18% of MSNBC, and 50% of msnbc.com (the web site).

The last time I tried to get folks on here riled up at Microsoft over MSNBC, a bunch of Microsoft defenders jumped up saying Microsoft had sold its interests in MSNBC (and pointed to a statement by Microsoft that they PLANNED on selling it). The sale never happened. Microsoft went from 50% to 18%, still a significant ownership position.

I’ve never understood how Microsoft got away without any public critisicm when it came to MSNBC. GE got plent, but Microsoft not a bit.

No matter how loyal an apparatchik one is, the party can always find a reason to take one out of circulation.

He was probably a money pit, what with such paltry ratings. They needed him in the run-up to the elections. Since he apparently didn’t do much good in that category either, they gave him his performance appraisal.

Waiting for the 400 Journolist journalistas to all be publicly exposed and fired.

Don't hold your breath for that one...

“I’ve never understood how Microsoft got away without any public critisicm when it came to MSNBC.”

I live in the heart of Microsoft country, east of Seattle, and have also wondered how they escape criticism for MSNBC.com

I use MSN.com as my homepage.

The Hard Left bias in their headlines, their editing, and their story selection is stunning.

MSNBC.com’s primary newsroom is at the Redmond campus, so this political bigotry cannot have gone unnoticed by senior executives.

And, pouring gas on the fire...

In 2008 MSFT officially lead the opposition to a statewide initiative that would have cracked down on drivers licenses and in-state tuition for illegal aliens.

A couple weeks before the collapse of Lehman Brothers, MSN.com was still posting mortgage ads for Bank of America and LendingTree that stated “No Social Security Number Required.”

Wow!
