Sounds like a rouse by Comcast to start cleaning up the failing channel. It is about money, and Keith and the rest just dont bring home the bacon. This made the decision easier. The cause, reflected in the timing of the firing, is that the FCC has yet to approve the NBC Universal - Comcast merger. Political reality is that the Administration must listen to the incoming Republican-lead House. Further, GE, which at the moment still effectively controls NBC, must now straddle both parties. For the past two years GE has focussed on currying favor with the Democrats.
Olberman was caught in this vice.
We should actually mourn Olberman's passing. His replacement could well be dangerous.

Or, at least, coherent....

Maybe Comcast wants to clean up their investment. That could be. If they had anchors one could respect maybe I'd take the whole situation more seriously.

Some great stuff from the DUmp:
" Conservatives trying to de-fund NPR as well. They are coming for DU already. I can sense it. " "I instinctively knew something was wrong with Keith last night. He was grabbing his head like he had a headache and his tone and nuance was different."
To: Enchante
Its just that its a policy that goes against elementary American freedoms.....It would be fun to follow a court case. He's loony enough to spill a lot of dirt.

I’m a bit conflicted about this one. While I could not be happier to see him get suspended, I think the reason for the suspension is no better than NPR firing Juan Williams for talking to Bill O’Reilley. No one in their right mind would think Olberman is anything but a Demoncrat lap dog. Unless the money he donated was stolen or from his expense account, why should the network care?

Then I wonder what the rules are at the other networks.
“What does it matter?” Is the issue here that he broke MSNBC rules, or that a purported independent pundit actually donated to partisan campaigns?
It matters because the issue is his objectivity, not what infraction against company rules he committed.

I cannot believe how many people are falling for this publicity stunt. This is to give the appearance the PMSNBC is more “Fair and Balance” than FNC.

I wouldn’t count on that. They may hold onto some of their current idiot viewership, certainly.

That’s an E-Anchor if you’re scoring at home, or even if you’re by yourself.

I know Sean Hannity gave $5,000 to Michele Bachmann’s PAC. Funny....I couldn’t find Olbermann’s donation on
newsmeat.com or opensecrets.org but I did see Hannity’s as well as a Neil Cavuto donation from 2002.
