Pelosi move is a sign that Democrats intend to fight the GOP, not cut deals
The Hill ^ | 11/5/10 | Mike Lillis

Speaker Nancy Pelosi's aim to remain the leader of House Democrats is an indication the party is ready to go to war with Republicans in the next Congress, not cut deals across the aisle.

The California Democrat is a radioactive figure in many districts across the country, where Republicans parlayed her unpopularity to pick up seats in Tuesday's landslide elections. But she's also a master at energizing the Democratic base, and her liberal resolve, some Democrats say, will draw much sharper distinctions between the two parties than that of more conservative members who might otherwise assume the leadership spot.

"The lesson [of the elections] is not to back down from a fight," Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said in a statement. "The lesson learned is we need to fight harder for real, fundamental change for the middle-class. And no one fights harder than Nancy Pelosi."

Put another way: "She's in a better position to throw the bombs back at Republicans," a former House Democratic aide said tersely. "I mean, who's the better person to make John Boehner look crazy? It's Pelosi."

Before Friday's surprise announcement that Pelosi will run for minority leader, Rep. Steny Hoyer, the current No. 2, was widely seen as heir apparent to head the party. The Maryland Democrat is known, in the words of one Democratic strategist, as "a dealmaker, a tactician" — someone who "makes the trains run on time."

Um... yeah. These people really get it.

Like I said, we should give the Pelosi Democrats the same treatment they gave us.

And if they complain, remind them we won.

They can go take a hike and pass wind for all I care.

The dems are committing political suicide. They are going to go on the record against tax cuts, for health care, and on the wrong side of a lot of other issues. Unless she retires before 2012, she and Obama and Reid will be lightening rods again. GOP sweeps to power in 2012.

It's amazing. Out of the hundreds of posts here on FR about the "lessons learned" from the election, there seems to be just as many lessons as there are posters and journalists.

The election just happened 5 days ago; results are still coming in. There has been no legislation to amount to much, only news pundits and opinions.

Yet aaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllll these lessons have been learned from the election.

My question is, why didn't the democrat learn ANY lessons in the past two years we've been yelling them.

But, these are not the dems telling of their amazing discovering, it's their sneaky way of throwing down the gauntlet.

Well, bring it on boys and girls...we're ready.

EXPLODE

Lines have been drawn and they are not merely ‘scratches’ in the sand. They have become trenches. Let them fight and I hope they are rabid (they will be) during the fight. Let that insanity be in full view for the American public.

On a side note, I heard on the news yesterday that my state (MO) legislature along with the Gov (a dem) intends to ‘fight’. In other words they intend to get radical (that will go over like a lead balloon here in Missouri). But much concern has been expressed because our Governor, a democrat, has worked well with the Republicans since he was elected. But now, that the Repuplicans have swept the state legislature, the rallying cry by the dims is ‘fight!’

Pelosi move is a sign that Democrats intend to fight the GOP will of the American people, not cut deals

That's what they're really doing, whether they realize it or not.

It makes sense. The so called Blue Dogs or moderate Democrats were decimated. The most left Democrat members from left districts are left. They are pretty bullet proof in their districts and personally are better off not making accommodations with the GOP.

That's obama's girl.

These toadies are nothing if not obstinate. But that's the way fools always are.

Now that’s funny!

If Pelosi wants to fight and can find enough supporters of the same mind, then it’s time to BUILD THE CELLS where we are going to have to have them restrained.
