Sarah Palin Shows Her Feminist Stripes
NewsReal Blog ^ | Nov.8, 2010 | Suzanne Venker

In an ever-changing society, one of the things we humans can depend on is that children don’t change. They come in to this world the same way they did one hundred years ago — with the exact same set of needs. Having a parent, particularly a mommy, at home to care for them is one of them.

But don’t tell Sarah Palin that. According to her, those who believe moms should stay home with their kids are “Neanderthals” who need to “get with it” and “evolve.”

Until now, I’ve been largely silent about Sarah Palin.

I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt because conservatives are in desperate need of a spokesperson. Sure, Palin’s unpolished and not what I would call an intellect – but neither was President Reagan. Indeed, there are other important qualities for public office besides intellect — as Barack Obama is proving in spades.

But as the author of two books on the subject of feminism, I cannot remain silent in light of Palin’s foolish comment on Fox. In response to why she thinks she was attacked so viciously during the 2008 campaign, Palin had this to say:

"There are still the Neanderthals out there who pick on the petty, little, superficial, meaningless things – like looks, like whether you can or can’t work outside of the home if you have small children – all those type of things where I would so hope that at some point those Neanderthals will evolve into something a bit more with it, a bit more modern, and a bit more understanding that, yeah, women can accomplish much."

The PDS and State-Run-Media attacks will continue until the elections of 2012. They are SO intimidated by a Conservative woman, who is the ONLY threat they see as a candidate. No one with more than two active brain cells is listening to the attacks anymore.

Out of context? Hell, the writer doesn’t appear to understand English.

It’s even funnier to see freepers now claiming the feminist mantel. I never thought I’d see the day. The Alan Alda wing of FR as emerged.

The left always uses conservative values against consevatives. It has previously worked because the left is not constrained by said values. They like to make us look like hypocrites this way. What upsets me is when conservatives turn on conservatives.

Wow, if you didn’t know better, you’d think the media were trying to... I don’t know... pit conservatives against each other in order to begin the vote splitting for 2012.

The old canards that people like Palin and Reagan aren’t “intellectual”. Well if being “intellectual” means you have memorized a lot of lies from crazy books and have become paralyzed because you’ve lost the ability to tell truth from lies and right from wrong then thank heaven there aren’t more “intellectuals” than there already are.

Too often “intellectual” seems synonymous with stupid.

Reagan and Palin and Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams have/had intellect.

Obama and Krugman and their ilk are idiots who have memorized data they can call up and spew on cue. But I don’t think they really understand what they say. They can’t apply data to the benefit of society. Their “intellect” is used to dredge up whatever authoritarian nonsense will justify their hidden destructive intentions.

I’m a Stay-At-Home-MOM. It doesn’t bother me some choose to work or have a career with or without kids, some choose to stay home. Me, I have had both. I had kids a little later in life, pro’s and con’s to that too, but am satisfied with my choices. For me, IF I could work and find a cure for cancer or some other noble cause I would, but to give up being more involved in my kids lives and “missing” out on their childhood, thanks but no thanks. And face it, I’d probably be divorced too, because as good as my husband is, it just isn’t the same and I’d be the one putting in TWENTY HOUR days trying to do it all and for the material things, it just isn’t worth it in the long run for us. And that is the bottom line, CHOICES. Rant over. :)

I think the Neanderthals Sarah Palin was referring to, were the liberals in the media who suddenly questioned whether a mother of small children should hold a full time, round the clock job, like being Vice President would entail.

Her comment is a jab at liberalism.

“Sure, Palin’s unpolished and not what I would call an intellect – but neither was President Reagan.”

Any pretense that this twit knew the first thing about anything went WAY out the window with that ENORMITY.

Reagan was THE Conservative intellectual/intellect of his time.

Watch “the Speech” on youtube, all his own words, then tell me that the man is not an intellect!!!!

It will not be my assessment of the intellectual powers of Reagan that will suffer by lack of an individuals agreement - but my assessment of the intelligence of the individual.

Apparently this author doesn’t realize that Sarah WAS calling leftist Feminists Neanderthals. Who does she think Palin was speaking to? Male Right wingers?

Uh no. She was speaking to female leftists who believe either you should be home barefoot and pregnant and be looked down upon, or you should be a Butch-loving man hating career woman with no inclination for or right to have children, those women should abort babies so they can continue their careers.

I find those attitudes neanderthalic as well. Sarah was right on.

Besides which, she was planning, in the event of an electoral victory - to give up the job of Governor of Alaska to be Vice President of these United States.

I hate to state the obvious..... but a Governor has a job with 100 to 1000 times the demands of the Vice Presidency.

I know that might blow some minds, but it is the unvarnished truth.

If she had gotten the job it would have represented a DRAMATIC decrease in her work load.

So, in Sarah Palin’s eyes the Apostle Paul was a neanderthal. “Encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” Titus 2:4-5

“get married, bear children, keep house” 1 Timothy 5:14

Author's Attribution (aka Bold-faced lie):

But don’t tell Sarah Palin that. According to her, those who believe moms should stay home with their kids are “Neanderthals” who need to “get with it” and “evolve.”

SARAH'S actual words:

"There are still the Neanderthals out there who pick on the petty, little, superficial, meaningless things – like looks, like whether you can or can’t work outside of the home if you have small children – all those type of things where I would so hope that at some point those Neanderthals will evolve into something a bit more with it, a bit more modern, and a bit more understanding that, yeah, women can accomplish much."

VERDICT: Suzanne Venker is either to ignorant to grasp what is in her own 'handwriting', or she is deliberately lying, and thinks her readers are incapable of their own thought (she might be right about some of them).

If you click through to the link, you will see the author has an “upcoming book.”

This is nothing more than a provocative way to promote the new book.

Promote traditional motherhood while knocking Sarah Palin at the same time. If her column goes as planned, she will be a very popular guest on many Christian radio stations.

“Welcome to Family Life Radio. Today we have as a guest, Suzanne Venker, co-author of the book The Flipside of Feminism. You won’t believe what she has to say about Sarah Palin. Stay tuned until after this commercial break for the interview.”
