Desperate Days For Global Warm-ongers

Environment: The United Nations wants $100 billion a year in taxes to deal with climate change. Two groups of researchers plan to go on the offensive against global warming "denialists." When will the madness end?

The U.N.'s craving for money it hasn't earned is insatiable. So it's no surprise that one of its panels has proposed to raise $100 billion a year from taxes on carbon dioxide emissions and international transportation, and possibly on financial transactions as well, to mitigate the effects of climate change.

This isn't the first time, of course, that the U.N. has proposed a global warming tax that would chill the world economy more than the Earth's temperatures. Taking $100 billion out of private hands and making it available to unelected bureaucrats who would channel money to unproductive, but politically favored, uses can't help but be a drag on growth.

Remember the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill? Under different versions of that legislation, real aggregate GDP losses by 2035 ranged from $7.4 trillion to $9.4 trillion and job losses from 844,000 to 2.48 million a year.

Fighting global warming is not only useless, it's expensive.

At roughly the same time the U.N. announced this plan to dig deeper into our pockets, a group of researchers led by John Abraham of St. Thomas University in Minnesota said it was mobilizing a "climate rapid-response team" that would also mount a media campaign to defend its position.

The researchers, the Tribune News Service reports, are even willing to appear before "potentially hostile audiences on conservative talk radio and television shows."

According to Scott Mandia, a professor of physical sciences at Suffolk County Community College in New York, this team will "not only communicate science," but also "aggressively engage the denialists and politicians who attack climate science and its scientists."

I liked the UN much better when most of the stories about it in the papers were about embezzling oil for food money and raping small children.

The United Nations wants $100 billion a year in taxes to deal with climate change.

One thing that must never happen is giving the UN the ability to lay taxes.

Just nuke it. A hiroshama-bomb will be adequate; anything bigger just eliminates too many Dem voters. Just relocate it to Harare where it belongs and I'll be happy.

It’s time for Americans to tell these so-called “scientists” to grow up and GET REAL JOBS! We can’t afford to carry these morons on our backs anymore. America is broke!

I never understood the warmists insisting that mountains are warming to the degree that they are MELTING. A FRACTION of a degree over a century wouldn’t cause that. You’d have to take a blowtorch to make even the slightest difference to Antarctica. Can these pinkos tell the difference between minus 11 degrees and minus 10 degrees? Minnesota is still f@#@ing frozen in winter.

From “The Solution” page of that website:

“...By this time, 2060, international policies and the international cap-and-trade system will be strict enough that emitting large amounts of CO2 will not be economically viable. Most energy will be produced using alternative or renewable energy technologies with emphasis on renewable energy generation. Those fossil-fuel plants still in operation will employ point source capture (pre-combustion capture, oxy-fuel combustion capture, post-combustion capture) technologies to eliminate CO2 emissions. Increased industrial efficiency and decreased wasteful consumption by the individual and corporate consumer would have helped stabilize and then zero emissions. The required research, development, and testing and necessary infrastructure essential for large-scale carbon capture, pipeline transportation, and sequestration operations will all be complete by this stage. Carbon will be captured at point sources and air capture plants and then transported via pipelines to the nearest site for sequestration. The primary methods of sequestration will continue to be saline aquifers, seabed, and in situ mineral sequestration.”

They’re scared. Flop-sweat scared. It’s more than just the likelihood of their gravy train being cut off, there’s also this little matter of Congressional investigations into misuse of government funds.

It’s been noted before recently, literally all of these guys have raked in Federal grants and contracts for their work. Like the CRU emails, it wouldn’t take much digging to unearth the necessary evidence to send them all to the pokey for stealing taxpayer dollars.

November Arctic Cold Blast Forecast

I've lived in Orlando for twenty years and haven't seen the cold temperatures we've had the past few days this early in the season the whole time I've been here.

Maybe we get 40s-60s the very end of Dec or early January. But not the first week of November.

We are gonna need another El Nino to get out of this winter. We are still only half way to neutral solar activity. Still cooling.

Noooo! One cold winter was enough. We froze our collective bottoms off this past winter. :-0

I looked into this sunspot/cold correlation once in school. I think I remember the years 1911-1914 being similar to what’s happening now. Does this ring any bells with you?
