A Stanislaus County school is forcing a student to take an American flag off of his bike.
Thirteen-year-old Cody Alicea put the flag there as a show of support for the veterans in his family.
But officials at Denair Middle School told him he couldn't fly it. He said he was told some students had complained.
So now the eighth-grader folds up the flag and puts it in his backpack while he is in class.
His father, Robert Kisner, said his son should not have to put the flag away.
"He's got that flag on his bike because he's proud of where he comes from," Kisner said.

That’s weird. I’m teaching in Los Angeles, inner city public school, and we have an American flag in every single classroom and most of the offices. And we say the pledge every day.

Just a wild guess, but there has to be a union involved. I don't know about that area, but around here, the Teamsters have muscled into the school administration racket.

Drag these ideologues and bureaucrats through the court system. Expose them and embarrass them in public . Exhaust them intellectually and financially.
Then ge tthem out of such positions of influnece and control.
They can only do this because parents will sit back and say that’s awful but otherwise won’t do anything about it. There should be a whole horde of parents up in this guys face up at the school. They will push until we start pushing back. I am beginning to wonder if we ever will? It seems that Americans have lost their sense of self, their culture and their will. IOW we are losing our nation.

I’m not from California, and “Unified” isn’t common any place I’ve lived. I’ve been in areas where they commonly use the term “Central,” though. I’m not sure “Unified” means the same as “Independent.” I hope you get an answer.

The term 'unified' in California school language means that the district has all K-12 grades within the district. Some California school districts contain only elementary grades, and some contain only high school grades. Those districts do not use the word unified.
California school districts are not determined solely by political division, ie, they are not solely determined by the city or county geography. It's a mishmash.
For instance, the middle/high school district where my husband taught took their students from about 6 local elementary districts.
Veterans Day and all the kids and staff are at school.
Martin Luther King Jr birthday and everybody gets the day off.

Like the French in Canada, some of these people still are living in the past. But I certainly think that a great many Mexican Americans MUST appreciate this country for what it is, knowing what they and their ancestors left. I wonder how many Mexican Americans themselves are Veterans? My guess is quite a few and they should speak out about this.

If they weren't tolerating racism from the kiddies this wouldn't be an issue. Mexican flags have their place. In America, that means cultural displays. There's no question which flag is superior here.
Meanwhile, if the ILLEGAL brats don't like it, deport 'em.
What is wrong with kids and parents today. If they said this to my kid, I’d tell him to fly the flag and if the school did not like it to call the police.
I’d make sure the TV cameras were rolling when tney tried and I’d have my attorney filing suit the next day.
When we were kids if the school told us we could not fly the flag, the next day we would have 50 of us flying it, wearing, waving it.
