Marines Defy the Washington-Political-Media Complex
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/15/2010 | John R. Guardiano

God bless Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James F. Amos. Despite incredible pressure from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, and the entire Washington-political-media complex, Amos is courageously standing up for his Marines. The man refuses to buckle and bow to the pressure.

The Chairman, the Secretary of Defense and the political-media complex all want to bully the Marines into accepting open homosexuality within their ranks. They simply cannot fathom why anyone would object to this “enlightened — [and politically correct] — view.”

Of course, there are very good reasons — rooted in human nature, human psychology, human sexuality and group dynamics — to oppose openly gay service.

But no matter: the ruling class elites and the popular culture have decreed that only “homophobic” retrogrades oppose this “progressive” measure. And anyone who objects, they insist, must be forcibly removed from military service — or, at the very least, removed from positions of military leadership

Think I’m exaggerating? Think again. In yesterday’s Washington Post, for instance, long-time columnist Richard Cohen declared that Amos should be fired and replaced by a new commandant committed to effecting open homosexuality within the Corps.

“If and when the [“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”] policy is changed,” Cohen writes, “President Obama ought to see to it that Amos is not tasked with implementing it. At the very top, the Marines need one good man.”

Well, so much for an educated and intellectually engaged military. So much for military leaders providing policymakers and the public with their best military advice and counsel. And so much for liberal tolerance of “dissenting points of view.”

For Cohen and the Left, dissent is only sanctioned when it is politically correct and in accordance with the “progressive” agenda.

I have news for Cohen and the far Left.

This policy would be especially egregious in the military. These men are told who they must live with. They have no choice. They need to focus on their jobs, and not worry about their real or potential roommates.

If two homos want to live together, that’s between them and their God. However, how many American citizens would be willing to open their bedrooms up to a homosexual roommate?

Furthermore, the gays are using this issue to make less outrageous demands seem reasonable.

The camel’s nose is already under the tent. We not only must ensure the camel stays out of the tent, we need to get a big sledge hammer and hit that big ugly beast on the nose!

Cohen looks like he's smoked a few poles and been driven on the hershey highway himself.

This is a very excellent article. It zeros in on the reasons for the horrendous nature of this liberal push to reorder society.

“Homosexuality is a mental illness and the mentally ill have no place in the military.”

Practicing homosexuals don’t belong in the military. If the person’s disorder or immoral conduct disrupts, which it does, they do not belong. In fact open homosexuals will never properly belong in uniform. If for no other reason than the conduct is abhorent and just plain wrong.

However, be careful about linking homosexuality to mental illness and then making the illogical jump that “the mentally ill have no place in the military” There are literally ten to hundreds of thousands of military personnel that suffer from depression and anxiety that receive medical treatment (medications) and serve honorably without problem because of the treatment. Do these no longer belong? Many are the result of PTSD from serving in combat.....do you think those service member’s with a mental illness problem like PTSD should be booted?

My point is don’t make generalities and don’t link homosexuality with a treatable mental illness. Homosexuality is a class all by itself.....rightfully attack that...don’t link it to easily treatable mental problems.

In this way, everyone wins; no one loses; and we can witness a healthy and instructive competition about whose values and traditions are better, more compelling, and more efficacious.

Phooey.

The results are in from other, foreign services already -- like the Dutch.

It doesn't "work" ...... besides being morally repugnant and offensive to the very people you want in the service.

My advice to other conservatives on this issue would be to play for keeps, accept no compromise at all, and if we wind up with a defense structure that contains only "progressives", then the sooner we can get it on for all the marbles, when the neo-Stalinists turn on us to wipe us off the map.

Assuming other nations don't jump us with nuclear weapons first and turn the "blue" counties into smoldering memories.

...be careful about linking homosexuality to mental illness ....

The trouble is, it truly is one -- it's a paraphilia. Homosexual political activists got it purged from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual by political coup in 1972-3, but it properly belongs there still.

Any mental disorder that is susceptible of treatment can be disabling for a person in the military. My own father developed Jacksonian (grand mal) epilepsy in the service but was able to continue in the service, albeit not as a flying officer. Other service personnel might not be so fortunate, and we have to recognize that.

Some homosexuals might be treatable -- Irving Bieber was looking into that possibility when the homosexual cabal shut down his research; he had already published a longitudinal study that suggested that about a third of homosexual men are "essentially" or biologically homosexual and not treatable by psychotherapy. The rest might be treatable in some fashion, to some result, many having been heterosexual boys who were sexualized -- "queered" -- by pederasts while still young.

Cohen could at least drag a comb across his head for the camera, and not go around looking like he just fell out of bed. Sorry POS.

Finally, arguments maintaining that open homosexuality will not hurt morale declaim the character of military operations.

Did you mean "disparage"? Or maybe "mischaracterize"?

Good point. That word does not convey the idea that the rhetoric employed is necessarily deceptive in character.

Lets see. Marines can withstand combat (noise, fire, seeing their buddies blown away, etc.) without becoming careless or distracted to the point that they lose their limbs. But if they know the guy next to them blowing away the enemy is gay, they can`t handle it and become so distracted that they will lose limbs. Does`nt make sense.
