The head of the Transportation Security Administration is acknowledging that the new pat-downs are more invasive than what travelers were used to in the past.
TSA administrator John Pistole says he has received the new pat-down, as has his boss, Secretary Janet Napolitano.
Some travelers complain that the new inspections target sensitive body areas. Pistole says he understands those privacy concerns, but says the government must provide the best possible security for air travelers.
Pistole was testifying before a Senate committee about TSA policies and procedures. The hearing was scheduled before the recent outrage about airport security pat-downs.

Then why aren't they focusing on the people who are a real threat? Why have they prevented most pilots from being armed? Why have they forced sky marshalls to wear recognizable suits?
These pat downs go against my religion as well. I am not afforded the same a muzzies.
As long as the sheep put up with it, why not?
The choice is simple:
Is flying worth being groped and felt up?
If the answer is yes, continue flying.
If the answer is no, stop flying.
Do what the TSA Agents do to someone in a bar would get one arrested.
Nope!
This all has little to do with security. As long as political correctness is used as exemptions for the real issue of profiling then there will be no security. Therefore this is just a further opportunity for governmental control.
Think BIG! Big Invasive Gubamint .. Get Used to It!
You have no rights when you purchase an air travel ticket. Read the fine print. He’s right.
If anything happens, passengers are subject to the Geneva Convention and a value of $75K is set as maximum damages (or it used to be).
You surrender your rights everytime you step into an airport terminal.
.. and some folks think we’re winning the War on International Interlopers.
The biggest enemies to our way of life are here in our own gubamint.
Here’s what you do. Teach your kids to scream bloody murder if anybody touches them in the wrong area. Tell them that this is the rule, except for doctors during a medical exam.
When the kids yell and scream, go over to them and comfort them, and take them from the area. If TSA arrests you and your kids, then this country is no longer worth saving.
If you’re an 82 year old woman, here’s what you do. If one of the agents touches you where you don’t want to be touched, yell and scream and squirm and say “miss - no one touches me there! you stop it right now!”
If TSA arrests the 82 year old women, then this country is no longer worth saving.
They are doing this to train us to be submissive. The American government has never been happy with the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, and so they have been chipping away at them, little by little, intruding into our lives and training us to accept more and more invasive probing into our lives.
A trusted traveler program would work, as would some form of what the Israelis do. With the modern highly secure driver’s licenses as photographic and basic biometric ID — there should be no trouble letting most Americans through on the basis of social profiling. Almost no one should have to go through advanced screenings.
Sir, as an American I DEMAND my right to travel by common carrier, by airline. And to do so without being subjected to experimental forms of radiation, or indignities to person.
Breitbart should offer $10,000 for any video of Napolitano getting groped.
Could it be this is for flying AF1 also? No wonder, 0b0z0 has been flying his ass off and enjoying it!
I’m with you. But I don’t think they give a damn about what we demand. We said we did not want obama care. They said ,hell with whar we wanted and put it on us anyway.
From their point of view, we cab demand in one hand and shit in the other hand and see which one gets full first.
Yeah....uh-huh. That's a lie.
