'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Ratings Plummet (Down 40% in viewership from last week)
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 11/23/2010

Posted on 11/23/2010 12:18:14 PM PST by WebFocus

After setting a TLC ratings record last week, Sarah Palin's reality show plummeted for its second episode.

Sarah Palin's Alaska fell 40% on Sunday night to 3 million viewers.

Not many were in the key adult demo either. Only 885,000 viewers were ages 18-49, dropping 44% from last week.

In fact, the median age of the show is 57 -- that's 15 years older than TLC's average.

TLC expected a ratings drop coming off the high-flying premiere; executives realized some of their numbers were driven by sheer curiosity rather than eagerness to see an Alaska-based travelogue reality show. Competition from Sunday Night Football and the American Music Awards may have impacted the numbers as well.

"We are very happy with the ongoing strength of Sarah Palin's Alaska, and it continues to drive big ratings gains for TLC," said a network spokesperson, who noted Conan had a similar drop.

Tonight, Bristol Palin will be on the Dancing With the Stars finale and there should be no shortage of viewers there given the controversy surrounding her improbable continued

Is this the new math? Or just the Palin Fanatic math?
FR, FB, Her book readers, her next book, her TV show viewers, they overlap, they aren’t seperate groups. BTW is FR up to 1 million users now?
And yes Sarah’s celeb-tard daughter dancing is a reason to vote for her to the Presidents office.. /s
Stop the Kool Aid.

with Sarah non stop talking the whole time

Too funny.

Part way through the show, even though I had fast forwarded through the reality show fluff, I found myself shouting, "HIRE A DAMN NARRATOR!!!!"

My wife yelled at me for using the "d" word in front of my daughter. Shortly after that, she said to me under her breath, "Yea, she's getting on my nerves, too."

"The Hollywood Reporter has not yet been blocked as an unwelcome source on FR."
?!?!?!
Thank you for that completely irrelevant piece of information.
Or are you answering for him? "He posted because he could"?
That hardly qualifies as a "point".
I'm betting the Justin Bieber Fan Club hasn't been blocked either...

The number of viewers is not important. The age of the viewers is important and people over the age of 52 are not desirable viewers.

Knew that would be the headline. 3 million is nothing to sneeze at, but it aint 5 million.

Now, if it's 1 million next week, then that's a problem.

Kool Aid? Wow. That is a first for me on a Palin thread....lol. I have been “called out” on that in other threads but not a Palin thread. I am actually Switzerland with regards to the Palins. We will see. The thing I can’t wait for is to finally see her in action and see if she truly has the goods.

Palin would be good on a lot of things but as Commander in Chief I have serious doubts. Actually the only female who has the balls to be Commander in Chief is Hillary (LOL)

Look I’m conservative and like Sarah a lot, but I will not watch her show.

Same here. I'll probably vote for her IF she decides to run, but I'm not watching her TV show.
A) I don't have cable.
B) I don't have the time to burn to watch people frolic around Alaska - even if I do like them.

If there is leisure time available, there are better things to read, listen to, or watch.
This network NRB Network has some pretty good stuff to watch (they even broadcast their shows on-line).

Hillary is a Marxist. Sarah Palin is tougher and more qualified than Hillary Alinsky Clinton. Who are you trying to kid?

Sarah's celeb-tard daughter?

Why the "tard"? That sounds like something that would be posted at D.U. or KOS. It certainly doesn't belong here.

Sarah Palin doesn't have a retarded daughter. Her baby son, Trig, has Down's Snydrome. You think that's funny?

She is trying too hard and not doing well.

By personalizing everything she fails.

The rock climbing segment was pitiful. It showed her to not have a clue.

Ditto the skeet shooting. There was not one good hit in the whole segment. I hoped Todd would smoke one but the best he could was wing them too. A good hit makes dust. There were no good hits

Then there is the borrowed RV. It seems they could have sprung for a rental with no plastic wrap on the floor.

I’m watching to see Alaska......

Yes, Palin is no K12 climber.
Palin also won’t make the US Olympic team in Trap Shooting.

But she’ll have a helluva shot at the GOP nomination for President.

The Hollywood Reporter has been around for eighty years. It seems to be more than just another People Magazine.

The article in Wikipedia (I know, I know) begins with:

"Formerly a daily trade magazine, The Hollywood Reporter re-launched in late 2010 as a unique hybrid publication serving the entertainment industry and a consumer audience. The multi-platform brand currently consists of an oversized weekly magazine, bi-monthly special reports, quarterly glossies, a high-traffic website, a digital daily, iPad app and events."

This is not news. Every show has a huge audience and then gets back to reality. She will do her 8 or 10 episodes and be done with it as planned. Nothing horrible about this at all. Those 5 million voters will be voters that she needs for President, plus the 2 million Facebook folks, the million of us FREEPERS, the 2.7 million folks that purchased her first book. She is getting very close to the 51 percent she needs to win this election in 2012. Her new book comes out soon and if she gets another 2.7 million folks to buy the book that even adds to her total votes necessary to win the election. And then there is Dancing with the Stars who has 19 million folks watching that show so that doubles her votes just through that show. She has the election in the bag!!!!!

Thanks for the satire. Some people however, took you seriously :)
