Palin's reckless views on obesity (*BARF ALERT*)
CNN ^ | 11/24/2010 | Roland Martin

Posted on 11/24/2010 7:05:56 PM PST by markomalley

It's clear that we can't go 24 hours without Sarah Palin saying something so stupid that it defies logic, but leave it to the Kim Kardashian of politics to find something wrong with first lady Michelle Obama's effort to curb obesity in America's kids.

In a radio interview on Wednesday with conservative talker Laura Ingraham, Palin took dead aim at the first lady's "Let's Move" initiative, which is all about getting children active and involved in exercise and healthy eating.

In the wacky world of Wasilla's finest, Palin tries to cast the effort to fight obesity as part of Michelle Obama's "different worldview."

Here is a portion of the transcript from HuffingtonPost.com: "Take her anti-obesity thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat.

"And I know I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."

Hmmm. "Let's Move" is Obama's "kick?" Maybe someone should kick Sarah Palin so she can understand how devastating obesity is to the future of the United States.

Yes, Roland, let us develop a generation of government indoctrinated vegans. Sure thing, Roland.

Roland’s response is even more hilarious given San Francisco’s ban on “Happy Meals”. Sort of vindicates everything Sarah said.

This is all they have???

Her views are not “reckless on obesity”. She clearly leads a life that is healthy, active and outdoors with her children.

This viewpoint has nothing to do with obesity. This viewpoint is more government intrusion vs. freedom to make our own choices and raise our kids how we see fit.

Simple as that. If this is all they got, Palin’s power is still rising.

Since the Obama Officials demand to get to “third base”
at their whim, if Americans are to travel,
and demand union membership and their chosen melanin content
and Islamic membership to get healthcare,
IMAGINE what the Communist antiAmerican bastards
intend to do when they control food, too.

I am not a supporter of her, but she is clearly on the money here.

"Maybe someone should kick Sarah Palin so she can understand how devastating obesity is to the future of the United States."

She also understands that using fatass michelle for a role model is not exactly a smart game plan.

In most cases, the quest to lose weight is squarely on the shoulders of us fatties. It's like quitting smoking, you can be preached to, given medications, try quirky plans...but you're not going to quit smoking until YOU are ready to quit.

Drinking is the same way...the more you harp on a drunk to quit drinking, the more he drinks. The people who harp on him are usually the ones who make him drink in the first place.

Michelle obama isn't going to inspire anyone to lose weight, if they are not ready to give up the twinkies and the sodas...they're going to stay fat.

People who finally make up their minds to do it, and are seriously dedicated can do it, like Drew Carey...he's lost a ton of weight and looks great. Rush Limbaugh lost about 90 pounds in three months.

Of course, sending out entitlement checks so people can sit on their asses all day watching TV is not an incentive to lose weight. And we know the obamas are no strangers to handing out free money (for votes).

I'm going to have to go with Sarah on this one, she makes a lot more common sense that michelle obama's "photo-opp" garden does.

This is the whole thing in a nutshell:

The culprit? Junk food and too much fat in school lunches.

No, Rollie baby -- the culprit is parents who give their kids junk food and don't send them to school with healthy lunches prepared at home.

I suppose that would sound wacky to someone who believes the role of the government is to direct every one how to live their life.

“Are our kids — do they have access to safe places to play? Are we structuring communities in a way that facilitates healthy living? Are there accessible and affordable healthy foods in our communities? And it’s about economic opportunity as well, because if folks can’t afford to put food on the table, then they’re eating what they can.

“So this is one of those issues that requires us to talk about a little bit of everything. And it makes us look at ourselves a little more closely and it makes us look at the broader society. So we’re beginning to understand this is a threat.”

So sorry, Roland, but this is INDEED about government controlling every aspect of our lives.

I think it all started with Lady Bird Johnson that the competition among First Ladies was established that one’s “legacy” was determined by how much taxpayers money was poured out on one’s pet causes.

Michelle wants to be godmother of all the pubskewlchildren who are more and more split from their parents by the pubskewl system.

Maybe we wouldn’t have an obesity epidemic if everyone decided to take up rock climbing in Alaska along with Sarah Palin.

Rush Limbaugh lost about 90 pounds in three months.

I bet he could make himself another few million with a "Rush Limbaugh Diet." It would vastly outsell Michelle's preaching.

I for one would rather be fat and prosperous than skinny and living in a government subsidized cardboard box.

These are the same people that want to herd people into high-density areas with ‘smart’ zoning.
