Democratic South finally falls
Politico ^ | November 28,2010 | JONATHAN MARTIN

For Democrats in the South, the most ominous part of a disastrous year may not be what happened on Election Day but what has happened in the weeks since.

After suffering a historic rout — in which nearly every white Deep South Democrat in the U.S. House was defeated and Republicans took over or gained seats in legislatures across the region — the party’s ranks in Dixie have thinned even further.

In Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama, Democratic state legislators have become Republicans, concluding that there is no future in the party that once dominated the so-called Solid South.

That the old Confederacy is shifting toward the GOP is, of course, nothing new. Southerners have been voting for Republican presidents, senators and governors for decades.

But what this year’s elections, and the subsequent party switching, have made unambiguously clear is that the last ramparts have fallen and political realignment has finally taken hold in one of the South’s last citadels of Democratic strength: the statehouses.

Southerners should’ve stopped voting Democratic decades ago

All it did was help keep liberals in power

It angers me that people continue to call them the “Democratic Party.” There’s nothing ‘democratic’ about how they do things.

Heh. Check out the “Confederacy” talk from these lib scum.

We also took Kennedy land.

But never mind that eh? Just keep churning out the same old lies like we’re 80 year old NBC viewers.

Maybe you could try and sell us some old people medication, and make us REALLY feel like we’re watching the evening news.

The Democrats didn’t “lose” the South. Even though the yankee elite won’t admit it, we have values down here in “Bible and Gun” country. As the Democrats abandoned and even laughed at our values, we lost interest in them. As the Democrats insulted our intelligence, we learned to distrust them. Then, when they decided to destroy our country so they could “transform” us into something we don’t believe in, we said “NO”.

Many of us switched in 1980. Others just took longer.

The Obamacare debate proved that there is no such thing as a conservative Democrat. Not anymore.

I hope these party switchers are not just opportunists. They are not just “while males” down there either. Bobby Jindal is not a white male.

Realighment is finally complete. It happened so slowly, some wondered if it would ever happen. Now, it has.

Democrats lost both chambers of the legislature this year in North Carolina

First time since the 1890's. Do I thank the rookie Hussein now, or later?

This oughta undo the screws on the Liberal hinge a couple of turns:

Tim Scott Selected by Freshmen Congressmen for Leadership Position

November 17, 2010 By teamscott

In one of their first acts as a Class, the 80-plus newly elected Republican Members of Congress selected Tim Scott as one of their two representatives to the Elected Leadership Committee (E.L.C.). The Committee is a small group comprising the leadership of the House Republican Conference which meets weekly to plan policy and set the agenda for Congress.

When our once trusted Blue Dogs signed on with Frisco Fascist Nancy P the die was cast—we don't tolerate sleeping with the enemies of traditional Southern values down he'ah.

My ex-rep John Spratt, who thought he was invulnerable, learned the lesson HARD>

But Tea Party people nixing so-called “moderate” Dems is too easy because their lies are like poop on a snow bank.We gotta get most of the Leftist Dems and all of the RINOs out next time around.

Some of us have never had to switch.

Unfortunately, some die-hard "yellow dog Democrats" will probably go to their graves voting against Lincoln and Hoover.

Oops. I forgot to point out that Tim Scott is from South Carolina and beat Strom Thurmond's son in the Republican primary.

1)"Trusted" Blue Dogs? You're kidding, right?

2)Unfortunately, the South has tolerated liberal Democrats for far too long just because of a grudge going back over a hundred years. Why in blazes did it take so long to sink in???

Funny how when dems controlled the South the MSM didn't refer to it as the 'Confederacy'. And you're right, Christian Engineer - they left off the part about us taking 'Kennedy' land. Guess it didn't have the sting (mean spirited bias) they were looking for...
