WASHINGTON -- In American revolutions, power generally flows to moderate revolutionaries. Sam Adams may get things started, but it is John who gets things done.

With more than 80 freshmen House Republicans ready to demolish the Capitol but unable to find its washrooms, influence will shift to leaders (think Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and Tom Price) who possess both tea party credibility and governing experience. Their mix of boldness and discretion will determine much about the outcome of the conservative uprising of 2010. They have a serious, intricate plan -- in which much can go wrong.

Repealing ObamaCare and the Food Industry takeover would be a good place to start.

Trent Lott: “We have to coopt these people quickly, as soon as they get to Washington...”

But they are harder to make when one element of a political coalition views compromise itself as the problem.

Depends if the compromise is necessary or just a means to curry favor in the Beltway.

The problem is, as one House Republican told me, "If we don't raise the limit, we are Argentina."

If the Democrats have their way, we will be just that.

TRANSLATION: The “know nothings” will do their damn best to limit the influence of the newly-elcted freshmen... thus ensuring that principle is cast overboard so to preserve the status quo establishment corruption.

Let’s hope these TEA Party styled individuals have the spine to tell their supposed “handlers” to “FK OFF” in plain English.

We are already Argentina, we just haven't realized it yet.

Investor psychology (mass psychosis) is an amazing thing to behold.

I think we are a decade or so behind Argentina, but the Dems have their foot on the gas pedal instead of the brakes. Government policy shouldn’t be a drag race to the cliff’s edge.

Eric Cantor is already a disappointment - ready, willing and able to negotiate away the repeal of obamacare... said it today... a full blown RINO in the making...

I didn’t realize Trent Lott was still in the Senate. Why you bring him up is beyond me

Isn’t Trent Lott now a lobbyist? And still playing games in DC? He no doubt still considers himself part of the ‘ruling class’.

On book federal debt at 100% of GDP (14 Trillion)

Total domestic debt (corp, gov, indiv) at over 300% of GDP

I’d be shocked (pleasantly) if we got 10 years.

Some Freepers prefer to only attack the GOP even though Obama and Reid control 2/3rd of the federal government. To them the real enemy is Lott.

They only get one chance. They need to present a balanced budget, with no deficit. Let O refuse to sign it.

But if they accept any deficit at all in their budget they will have lost their moral high ground. The Dems play this game year after year, pointing out that Repubs also voted for their stupid policies. That has to stop. Present a balanced budget, no deficit. If the Dems want to force a Gingrich-style government shut-down, then we should accept it as a grand bit of political theater. Fund those “necessary” portions of the government, as we did in Gingrich’s day, and let the country see just how little government we really need.

I repeat ... Eric Cantor is already a disappointment - ready, willing and able to negotiate away the repeal of obamacare... said it today... a full blown RINO in the making...

Cantor has made statements that Republicans should work to retain (in obamacare) mandatory requirements that Insurance companies have to allow ‘children’ age 26 to be covered under their parents health insurance and that the obamacare provisions forcing Insurance companies to cover pre-existing medical conditions...

That is a called a RINO cop-out - and has NOTHING to do with Constitutional Conservatism. No self-respecting conservative would endorse any such Government Mandate upon private enterprise... Where in the Constitution is it found that any such government intervention is allowed ? Where?

Cantor talk constantly in ‘inside the beltway’ double speak - I am at the point where I cannot stand to hear this Politico talk ... such blather...

Incoming Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Monday that they would do this by passing a GOP healthcare bill at the same time as repeal efforts are underway.

So passing a GOP health care bill and making an effort repealing the Rat's health care bill makes him a RINO? Get real

IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW these provisions are retained - they are ANTI-CONSERVATIVE in nature.... GOOD GRIEF can’t you read?
