I am an Army officer, and I see wounded soldiers every day. Furthermore, I may be called upon at any time to notify and/or assist a family upon the death of their soldier.
Do not accuse me of having no understanding of what the troops on the ground are going through.
Ultimately, Obama is my boss. I do not have any problem with his performance as CinC, other than DADT. So what if he’s only acting on the advice of experienced people? That’s far better than some other presidents have done... Johnson comes to mind. And he isn’t full of poorly concealed contempt for the troops like Clinton was.
That isn’t to say that I approve of Obama’s takeover of American industries, or of Obamacare, or of his extreme left social views, etc.
Here's one Freeper who could never forget the USCG, and its proud heritage and traditions. He grew up with them, as his father was a career Coastguardsman...

During wartime, the Coast Guard is under the Department of the Navy....it just doesn’t have enough clout like the Marine Corps, which is also underneath the Navy...
I have to say that “Coast Guard” would not have instinctively sprung to my mind either if I was addressing the situation in land-locked Afghanistan. However, if there are in fact Coast Guardsmen stationed there, I have to assume I would be briefed on that fact, and would certainly then not have neglected them.

As a former Puddle Pirate, I hold no malice towards Ø for not mentioning the USCG but what I do take umbridge with is they way he responded when someone shouted “Coast Guard” “did I hear some say Coast Guard” like it was alien being or something and then right on with his love affair with TOTUS.
I would guess 90% of the American people couldn’t/wouldn’t name the USCG as part of our Armed Services.

Ha the “corpse man” AND he never saluted the man who earned the CMH when he presented such a high medal for bravery. For that matter we’ve never seen him actually place his hand on a Bible and state the oath of the office of the presidency.
