Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a man, woman, or idea that “for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year.” Although TIME’s list is not an academic or objective study of the past, the list gives a contemporary viewpoint of what was important during each year. There are many interesting facts about the list.
Here are a few zingers:
1988 Endangered Earth
1993 The Peacemakers (Yeah, right)
1995 Andy Grove (Who?)
1996 Dr. David Ho (Bwahahahahahaaaa)
1999 Jeff Bezos (Who the deuce is he?)
2002 Endangered Earth (Thought it would be PETA)
2005 Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Bono
2006 You (Did you get that one?)

How ironic that this was "leaked" by sources.

How many times is the Endangered Earth going to get the Time Award?
Gaia must be getting embarassed at all the attention she’s getting...

Odd.
I figured those forgotten bank auditors who were prosecuted for uncovering 0bama's loan records might have been in the running.
OR Lt. Col Terry Larkin.
OR 0bama's own Kenyan grandma.

It's OK. We all know that the Tea Party Movement is the actual person of the year. Time just hasn't figured that out yet.

I don’t see why anyone would bother being outraged by this, for two reasons, either one of which is enough to make it a non-event:
1. Time is an irrelevant publication at this point.
2. Man of the Year is a measure of how much effect the person has had on the news, not an award for character or accomplishment. That’s why, back when Time was run by real Americans, Adolf Hitler was their Man of the Year one year.
Of course, the real men and women of the year are the Tea Party.

This is nothing new. We have seen this type of thing for years. The last time I read Time was probably in 1996 or thereabouts...
