Before Sept. 11, 2001, became a transitional date in American history, there was the "date which will live in infamy." Today marks Pearl Harbor Day, in remembrance of those who lost their lives in Japan's surprise attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
More than 350 Japanese aircraft, launched from several carriers positioned north of Hawaii, sank or damaged 16 ships, destroyed 188 U.S. aircraft, caught on the ground, and killed 2,402 personnel.

A Republic, if you can keep it.
That was Benjamin Franklin’s replay to a lady at the close of the Constitutional Convention when she asked, “Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy?”... looking a the world around me lately I’m sincerely questioning if we’re keeping it.
Days such as today with the historical significance bring this to the forefront of my mind. I hope we keep it.

That Date is November 4 2008 when the worlds most worthless man and scumbag was elected. That's a date of shame, not of infamy.
The Japanese may not have planned Pearl Harbor to be a sneak attack, but they sure didn't implement the safeguards to prevent it from becoming such. So Dec 7th lives on in infamy.

Unfortunately our Republic was lost a long time ago.
Specifically in 1913 when the 16th Amendment was ratified.
Since that time we have ALL become slaves of a govt. that does not give ONE SINGLE SH!T about it's citizens or the people that fought for it.

Ditto, didn't see anything on the internet today. Re-write history and leave out December 7th, 1941 - Pearl Harbor. I guess the Japanese had bad childhoods and were just misunderstood in today's progressive world. Like the Ground Zero Mosque, we should let them build a tribute to their poor fallen Kamikaze pilots at Pearl Harbor.

My father and his two brothers enlisted after this.
One uncle went to France via Juno. He returned and would never say one word about it.
The other uncle went to French waters via Operation Neptune. He returned and would never say a word about it.
My father (youngest) was CG stationed in Alaska. He told me of my uncles.

I appreciate the thread, but I would have preferred not being startled with a title like that in breaking news. I was only thinking, “What did Congress do this time?”.

My dad as well didn’t talk about his war experience except for the ‘funny’ things that happened. When he was much older and near the end of life he started to relive the combat moments. He kept all of those bad memories to himself all of those years.
Yes, God Bless the Greatest Generation.
