House Democrats defy Obama on tax cut bill

(CNN) - Defying President Obama, House Democrats voted Thursday not to bring up the tax package that he negotiated with Republicans in its current form.

"This message today is very simple: That in the form that it was negotiated, it is not acceptable to the House Democratic caucus. It's as simple as that," said Democratic Congressman Chris Van Hollen.

"We will continue to try and work with the White House and our Republican colleagues to try and make sure we do something right for the economy and right for jobs, and a balanced package as we go forward," he said.

The vote comes a day after Vice President Biden made clear to House Democrats behind closed doors that the deal would unravel if any changes were made.

The vote also come less than an hour after Obama himself urged Congress to pass the compromise he struck with GOP leaders earlier this week and warned that failing to do it could cost jobs.

"There is an important debate on Capitol Hill that will determine in part whether our economy moves backward or forward," Obama said at an Export Council meeting. "The bipartisan framework we have forged on taxes will not only protect working Americans from seeing a major tax increase on January 1, it will provide businesses with incentives to invest, grow, and hire."

The Dems are infected with a class-warfare virus which makes it impossible for them to consider basic economic realities.

This “tax breaks for the wealthy” jargon is so...communist manifesto, and so obsolete.
The country's economy is collapsing, jobs are vanishing, and they're fixated on rich people.

Republicans should start talking about a REAL tax cut in 2011 when the take over the House. The new deal will be no unemployment extension, no death tax, and an additional 2% tax break for everyone from today’s rates.

This is exactly why I refer so often to leftists as UNINTELLIGENT, because they make it so obvious that they have learned nothing from history or philosophy...and yet they continually spout off regarding *the errors of the past* and the need to *help* society...

....and then they have the gall to refer to those who disagree with them as being *uneducated.*

I have become firmly convinced that their intellects have become clouded.

Yep because by then ALL their constituients (who actually work) will see their paychecks shrink.

There’s no way they’d vote against it!

We got a pool going yet for how much the Dow drops today? I’ll take 200.

That was my first reaction....

But if this is punted to the next Congress....look for a better deal...

Thus a better for businesses and stocks.

It’s funny I haven’t heard a word from the usual leftist bed wetters that the Dems are ruining Christmas for all the unemployed.

A sales tax would also force every liberal, including the illegal ones, to pay for their own entitlements.

This seems to be the smoke and mirrors that Congress plays when they want to pass some monstrosity that the American people don't want but both parties want it for there Big business and Globalists owners.

Since they don't have the military bill to hang what they really want on don't be surprised if you get the dream act passed . The Republicans and democrats both want it but they got to have their usual excuse to CTA . They will probably say that they had to vote for it in order to get the tax cuts and the democrats will give up the don't ask don't tell using the same excuse.

Big business will get the rush of money from the extra unemployment checks, the tax breaks and loads of new cheap labor and Americans will lose more of their identity, their freedoms and their money while they as usual, foot the bill for it all.

Will we never wake up to what is being done to this country by these greedy ultra rich corporations in the name of good business?
