German man castrates teenage daughter's 57-year-old boyfriend
The Telegraph ^ | 12/13/2010 | Allan Hall

An enraged father who disapproved of his daughter's older boyfriend went to his home and castrated him with a bread knife.

Helmut Seifert, 47, an ethnic German originally from Russia, was enraged when he heard his 17-year-old daughter was having a relationship with Phillip Genscher, 57.

He went to police in the town of Bielefeld where he lives but officers said they were powerless to intervene.

"The man then recruited two work colleagues at his factory and then went to the house of the victim," said police.

"The man was forced to remove his trousers and, fully conscious, he was castrated. The severed testicles were taken away by the perpetrator."

Comparing what this guy did, and by inference the FReepers who agree with his acts, to the taliban is horrible.

IMHO I would rather be dead than castrated but that's just me..I'm a horn dog (see my profile)

Fear of consequences is a motivator for many people.

“”Legal”, “right/wrong”, and “moral” are three different things.”

If she was acting of her own free will, then we have to respect her desires, unless we are willing to say that a seventeen year old cannot make up her own mind about who to have sex with. The German government has decided that she can made that decision herself. Sure, ideally she would choose a handsome young man who was number one in his class and headed for medical school, but fathers apparently don’t get to choose in Germany. What if she was having sex with an eighteen year old heroin dealer? Is that better?

From your data, the relationship was legal. That the parents and daughter made choices that were less than the best is hardly justification to castrate a man doing what is legal.

To cheer such behavior leads to the lowest levels of mob behavior - something Germany had a problem with about 70 years ago.

Principles count, and the behavior of Daddy and Buds is not to be cheered.

Unless one is intellectually a Klansman, that is.

I am surprised that no FReeper wondered why a girl that young chose a sex partner that much older than herself. I

If she was a paid mistress, that would be easy to understand, if not approve of. But, if she wanted the relationship, then questions arise.

Not being female, I am wonder what her motives were. Any female FReepers have any ideas?

Any Freeper psychiatrists with ideas?

ANybody with any ideas on this subject?

From post 78: Well you are an idiot.
So, the ad hominem is blatant...no other explanation.

FR is a typical blog with typical people. But this thread is filled with people who find a strange rationale for excusing, or ignoring the illegal castration of a man. This is a cruel and unusual punishment, inconsistent with our Constitution's intent.

The castration was a horrible act. It was an act consistent with a lawless society. There were other ways to "solve the problem."

Why have people in this forum condoned, or made fun of such an illegal act? Because it suits their personal opinions?

The law must stand for something. Its subjective application is what's destroying our Republic...and the quality of posters on this forum.

This happened in the UK. Not here in our Republic.

I don’t believe that is technically an ad hominem. In an ad hominem, he would have had to call you an idiot FIRST and then use that to color everything else you said, as therefore incorrect. I don’t believe he did that. I an not addressing anything else in your debate, just your misuse of that term. It’s apparently a common misuse. You can continue to misuse it if you like.

“ya know if I had a daughter...(3 sons for 19 to 29)...I might do the same....or since I live in America and own guns....well lets just leave it at that....”

for some reason guys don't seem to be as afraid of guns here in the US as they are of knives. I've been known to tell people I'd use a dull, rusty, spoon for that procedure, myself.

On the other hand, my FIL thinks it absolutely hilarious that I now have two teen daughters...

I think I even understand why... ;)

Hogwash, make a rational argument but comparing this to the taliban is idiotic

Rational argument? There are laws. Girls under this age are illegal, and girls over this age legal. The age of consent in Germany is 14, and if I'm reading this right, this girl was 17. Given her age it would have been legal in Texas, and yeah we'd deal harshly in Texas with a father who castrated his legal aged daughter's boyfriend. Protecting children is one thing, but this was a young woman by legal definition, not a child.
