500 More Red-Wing Blackbirds Found Dead in Louisiana
AOL News ^ | January 4, 2011 | David Knowles

This is getting weird.

Four days after an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 red-winged blackbirds fell from the sky in Beebe, Ark., about 500 more dead birds were found lying lifeless on a quarter-mile-long stretch of highway in Pointe Coupee Parish in Louisiana.

The birds, red-winged blackbirds and starlings, were discovered on Monday, Baton Rouge's The Advocate reported. Biologists will send some of the birds to labs in Georgia and Wisconsin to conduct necropsies and tests to determine the cause of death.

After examining the birds found in Arkansas, state officials concluded that they had died as a result of blunt trauma, possibly caused by flying into buildings after being startled by New Year's fireworks.

A day before the Arkansas bird deaths were reported, 100,000 drum fish were found dead in a massive fishkill in the Arkansas River. That die-off is still being investigated but was likely caused by a combination of factors including a population boom over the summer, a deadly pathogen and a harsh winter cold snap.

possibly caused by flying into buildings

Then, why do the reports indiacte they were found in open spaces? Shouldn't they all be piled up at the foundation of several buildings?

One of the happy things about moving to S. FL was all the redwing blackbirds. I love them, they are everywhere and they are not only beautiful, I love to hear them sing in the spring. We had them in TX but not many and they mostly hung with those bad boy starling and cowbirds.

All I want to know is:

1. Why is this man’s (predominantly middle age white man’s) fault?

2. Why should I feel guilty about it?

3. How much, and where do I send the check?

Well, the first mistake (as a rational citizen) are making is that you're thinking!.

We can't expect State Officials [or Federal, for that matter] to do that!

These buttwipes are there to respond to MEDIA and no one else!

It does not matter what they say; it only matters that the media prints it. They can then return to their superfluous, meaningless jobs that tax our own treasure, force us to work even harder to make ends meet, and to enslave us.

*It's probably mercury poisoning — from all those broken Curly Fry Lightbulbs. / sarc*

Doesn't even needs the sarc!
Those mercury bulbs are going to ruin the environment way faster than CO2 will in several million years!

I was thinking something similar. Or maybe we’re the dorks if we’re going to settle for these ridiculous “explanations.”

Good grief. When’s the last time you’ve heard or seen flocks of birds flying at midnight? And just where are all these super tall buildings that impeded the flight of these birds?

Did the fishies swim into tall buildings, too?

Gee, that's a weird coincidence- Ark, La, etc.... the same general region where POTUS sat back and allowed the oil spill to spread for 57 days, and then dumped untested, toxic dispersants into the water...

I read that report as well. It’s more plausible than the tripe which is being thrown around by the MSM at present... Thanks for posting it.

Was this photo-shopped and omething that looks almost like dead blackbirds added in foreground; or are those just sweet things aka black underwear with a bit of red trim. . .that look like dead blackbirds. . .

(There is, of course, a third possibility that underscores my observation; but no need to go 'there'.)

OK; one more 'careful' look/lol.
