SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) Imagine looking out your back window and seeing duck carcasses hanging from a neighbor's house. That's been the case for a south St. Louis County neighborhood for nearly two weeks. It turns out what is common in some parts of the world is a violation of the county's health code.
A family from Turkey hung chunks of meat and poultry outside to cure or "season" on Christmas day according to neighbor Dan Wampler. "It's out in direct sunlight all day long and the squirrels and animals are getting into the food," he said Wednesday as he stood on the other side of the fence from the backyard.
Wampler said a neighbor's dog had become ill and thrown up pieces of poultry bone and raw meat while he kept his dog from eating another bone with decaying meat attached. Worried about the health of pets and children in the area, he contacted the St. Louis County Health Department but got no action until he contacted FOX 2 News. A call from the news room to the health department resulted in a health inspector checking on the complaint and asking the owners to remove the raw meat. They did remove the meat Wednesday afternoon.

Stupid idea. American varmits know food outside a humans nest is ours, period.
Don't need to. I can just look out my back window and see duck carcasses hanging. Also sometimes pheasant, rabbit, geese, coyote, deer and, once, a black bear.
Is that supposed o tbe some kind of PROBLEM?
How culturally insensitive!
...neighbor should have kept his dog on his OWN property.
It’s a personal policy of mine to never display my meat in public.
Our local Japanese restaurant hangs out their ducks all the time.
Hey, you better be careful about hanging your meat out in public! You can get in big trouble unless it is after 2:00 AM and she is really drunk.
No kidding! Still though, you gotta wonder what its species lived on before store bought dogfood if it gets sick from raw meat...
Chinese?
Some people are so far removed from reality, it’s downright scary. Poor little poochie threw up after eating raw meat? No wonder! It was too used to eating nice little nuggets made by cooking rotten offal, euthenized pets and chicken feathers into a slurry and forming it into nuggets so the real ingredients can’t be identified. Not THAT”S perfectly acceptable!
The practice of curing meat has been around a lot longer than those panty-waist pinkies have. Considering the times we’re living in, those people had better ask their neighbors for some lessons in survival. If the economy collapses they’ll be begging their neighbors for some of those hanging carcasses.
I once took a Greek bus tour from Salonika to Phillipi at the end of Lent and saw a number of skinned lambs hanging outside — for sale — at an isolated gas station. Country people there didn’t have close-by supermarkets.
Saw an interesting monument to Alexander the Great that day, too — a massive bronze sitting lion — in the middle of nowhere.
True, the man might hang the dog beside the dog. LOL
True, the man might hang the dog beside the dog. LOL
Around here, we call it deer season
I immediately thought of the hanging pheasants in the James Clavell book "Shogun".
To the offended neighbor, “shut up and cherish the diversity.”
