Tragedy In Tucson: On Palin's Hands?
IBD Editorials ^ | January 10, 2011 | Staff

Searching For Answers: From New York newspaper columnists to an Illinois senator, the liberal left is blaming the Tea Party and conservative stars for the shooting of an Arizona congresswoman. How about blaming the communist and Nazi-loving shooter?

It didn't take long for New York Times columnist Paul Krugman to blame the Tea Party and Sarah Palin for the shooting outside a Tucson supermarket that seriously injured Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords and left six others, including a 9-year-old, dead.

Writing Saturday, as the shooting was still fresh and little was known of the shooter or the circumstances, Krugman spoke of a "connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc." and the violence in Tucson. He noted that Rep. Giffords was opposed in 2010 by a Tea Party activist. "And yes," Krugman said, "she was on Sarah Palin's infamous 'cross-hairs' list."

The prize for insensitive slander, however, goes to Michael Daly of the New York Daily News. Under the headline "Rep. Gabriel Giffords' blood is on Palin's hands after putting cross hair over her district," Daly wrote that Palin, by designating 20 congressmen as targets in 2010 for voting for ObamaCare, "added to a climate of violence."

It matters not to these loons that the accused shooter was described by former classmates as "left wing," "quite liberal," prone to "nonsensical outbursts" and a person "on his own planet." A video posted on his YouTube channel featured a flag burning. His favorite material, apparently, included "The Communist Manifesto" and "Mein Kampf." Hardly your classic Tea Partyer.

Is it guillotine time yet for the mediascum who are clearly sold out to the progressives propaganda arm? I mean, even this editorial seems to get it, that the crap coming from the leftist media has completely exhonerated the much more blatant calls for violence and lynching and murder and snipers to attack President Bush!

The prize for insensitive slander

It wasn't "insensitive". It was cook-book propagandizing. Whatever happens, these people are ready with a Palin rant. You can write the thing in advance and just edit a word or two here or there to make it fit the events of the day.

These guys are DNC hacks. They've probably got a rant-generator application on their IPAD. Punch in Palin's name and hit "enter" and out it comes. If its too hot, its Palin's fault. If its too cold its Palin. Or Bush. Or Beck. Or the tea party.

The press is drowning in its own vomit. The average "journalist" makes about as much sense as Loughner and his you-tubes.

Paul Krugman knew instantly HIS FRIENDS were in some sort of trouble. This report came in from Pima County Arizona where the sheriff is an Obamista favorite.

Not too far back (Dec 17) Napolitano visited Arizona concerning border violence ~ on Dec 18 she held a teleconference with Arizona sheriffs but not with Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu and Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever, and then a few days later after a border killing they asked for a special audience with her, and presumably were denied. I can onlyguess here that they are both Republicans.

As this case in Pima County is showing us, when Democrats are involved in Arizona there is not nor can there be any justice.

Paul Krugman's follow up accusations against Republicans for fostering this sort of thing definitely reveal his clear understanding of who did the murders and how it came to be that the killer had clear cut ties to the Democrat party machinery in Arizona.

A sight is an optical device that can be used for anything - a periscope, land surveys, astronomy - anywhere magnification is needed.

A target however, like the one DailyKos used for Giffords, is specific to shooting/archery.

Which is more of a threat?

This has been the most disappointing two days of news I can recall. The utter nonsense the so called “news” media has been spewing has not only been disheartening, but downright sickening.

I hope so. I want the concessions contract. Sandwiches, hotdogs, burgers, bbq ribs, soft drinks... I’ll make a killing.

The left has bizarre notions of causality and blame.

When something bad happens in the world, conservatives first try to determine who did it and why. We assume that individuals are fully responsible for their own actions until proved otherwise. Next, we weigh motivation and extenuating circumstances. After that, we think for a while and eventually come to a conclusion about who deserves blame, and how much.

Our method is simple, logical, and fair.

Liberals use a different process. When a bad thing happens, liberals first create a list of the conservatives they hate. (Note that this has absolutely nothing to do with the bad event.) From that list, they choose blame candidates, based on (1) how much they are hated, and (2) the presence of any connection, however tangential and remote, between a candidate and the bad event. If no connection to a conservative blame candidate can be found, then liberals play the toxic environment card. They select a blame candidate from their most-hated list and assert that the candidate somehow created a toxic environment, that by a mysterious process caused the bad event.

Their method is convoluted, wildly irrational, and unfair.

So, let's look at the Tucson shootings and assess causality and blame.

Conservative method:

Jared Loughner appears to be responsible for the shootings. There seems no doubt of his identity, as he was captured at the scene of the crime in front of many witnesses. Extenuating circumstance: Loughner seems to be a paranoid schizophrenic. His actions seem to have been caused more by his mental illness than by any other factor. While that may affect his sentencing, it does not diminish his responsibility for the crime, at least outside a courtroom. It's all on Loughner.

Liberal Method:

First, we list who we hate most: The Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Republicans, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, the American military, George Bush, Ronald Reagan, etc.

Next, we look for a connection, however remote, between anyone one the list and the shootings. At first glance there is no connection. Damn! Well, let's start again at the top of the list and be creative. We just HAVE TO come up with something. Oh, wait! We've found a connection! Sarah Palin created maps with symbols that look sort of like scope crosshairs. So, Sarah Palin wanted for Democrats in the targeted areas to be murdered! It's perfectly obvious! And since what's his name was such a big Palin fan, he... Oh, wait, he wasn't a Palin fan. Damn. But he was a big Tea Party fan, and they take their marching orders from Sarah Palin, so... Oh, wait, he wasn't a Tea Party fan. In fact he seems to have been one of ours, an "out" lefty who burned the American flag and admitted to liking The Communist Manifesto. Damn, damn, damn. OK, desperate times call for desperate measures, so we will PLAY THE TOXIC ENVIRONMENT CARD! Sarah Palin and the Tea Party must have created a TOXIC ENVIRONMENT that warped poor innocent what's his name's brain until he just couldn't help himself! Palin and the Tea Partiers are to blame!

And they actually believe it.

The supposed journalists who made such irresponsible charges should be fired for their inexcusable incompetent ignorance.

That they are allowed to continue their nonsense speaks volumes.
