Gibbs likes idea of no sides at SOTU

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs expressed tepid approval on Thursday for Sen. Mark Udall’s idea that the parties sit together, not separate, during President Obama’s State of the Union address on Jan. 25.

“I haven't had an opportunity to talk to some folks around here on that. It's an interesting idea,” Gibbs told reporters on Thursday. “Maybe not having a physical aisle separate us would be a good thing as we talk about the state of our union, and that's everybody. That's not one side or the other. That's everyone.”

Stupid idea. Maybe they should all stand up during the speech, which would then cause alot of shuffling and chatting, which would be a distraction to everyone in the room, which would drive Zero crazy.

Now I remember. This is an old communist trick, called "the diamond formation".

When they were in a minority in a gathering, they would sit in a diamond pattern, then anytime a communist leader would speak, they would all jump to their feet, wildly applauding, and creating the *illusion* that what Obama is saying is far more popular, from whatever angle observers would look at the assembled audience.

I wouldn’t want to sit next to a democrat either.

Their insanity might be contagious.

After The One’s comments about the Supreme Court last year, are any of the Supremes likely to attend, other than the wise Latina and the affable Dyke?

He just doesn't want the graphic of the overwhelming Republican majority in the House getting into viewers minds as a reminder of the rejection of the Obama presidency.

They don’t want the strongest side to look unified to the plebs.

Not only that, but when the Dims bounce to their feet every other sentence, they want it to appear the standing 'O' is happening on both sides of the aisle.

Hold hands and sing Kumbya?

NO!

There is a reason there are multiple parties instead of everyone just belonging to the democrats, progressives, communists or whatever label/ no label they use today.

Now that the Reps have a clear majority in the House and have narrowed the advantage in the Senate, it is better for the Dems to have everyone sitting together to mask the true size of the Rep majority presence. And it could inhibit the Reps from showing their displeasure. The Reps would be fools to accept this.

Not really... besides Malkin, Levin, Limbaugh and a handful of others... the rest are dims... they just play Conservatives for a paycheck. That includes most of fox's lineup.

If they decide to mingle in the seats with the Democrats, the Republicans should protect themselves.

Or would that be uncivil?

The scary thought is that the Republicans would be likely to go along with this, giving up yet another opportunity to look strong to the American people.

It's all about maintaining the image that the Democrats are still ruling the House.

Better yet, cancel the SOTU. Obama can add nothing to what he has already tele prompted.

Constitutionally, he has to report on the state of the union to Congress "from time to time."

He doesn't have to give a presentation. He can just send them a report.

That would require a constitutional ammendment as it requires the POTUS to give a yearly SOTU. But it’s only the Constitution what do I know.

Let the Democrats change the seating when they are in the majority. If it was good enough for Nancy’s coven to bask in their big bloc of seats the past four years, there is no reason for the GOP to help them disguise their shrinkage this year.
