JACKSON, Miss. -- Authorities said Sunday a new drug that can be bought in stores is circulating the streets of Mississippi.

This new drug, known in the streets as "ivory wave" or "scarface," is actually a form of bath salt, authorities said.

The director of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Marshall Fisher, said the drug has gained popularity in the coastal and northeast part of the state. It can be snorted, injected or smoked, authorities said.

Senate leaders said they have already proposed a bill to get this new street drug off the store shelves.

If passed, possession and use of this bath salt will have similar penalties as marijuana and heroin, the senators said.

In northern Canada, the drug of choice among the native population is gasoline. It’s cheap, legal, plentiful, can be obtained in bulk quantities, and kills brain cells most readily when the fumes are concentrated and inhaled.

It is simply amazing.

I’ve come to the conclusion quite some time ago that if someone wants to kill themselves off slowly by using drugs then it is to societies best interest to get out of their way.

I'll go ahead and remember that when I'm at the hospital taking another report on a 13 or 14 year-old boy/girl who is overdosing on a specific thing like bath salts that are crushed and repackaged to sell to youngsters at the gas station....

What you said can easily be applied to sexual consent laws as well. Let's go ahead and let persons young and old do whatever they want because "it's only going to hurt themselves".

What a selfish ideology.

Well that’s comforting to know.......

At least now, after I soak in my Jacuzzi, I can smoke the run-off.

Sounds like a self-correcting problem. Why is this an issue?

Thanks, I only just stumbled across this one story so I assumed it was what the title indicated.

Now it makes more sense, I was trying to figure out how metal chlorides would give you a buzz unless it was something else mixed in for processing, shooting Epsom salt sounded deadly to me.

Probably the same type person who first dug out an oyster and thought "hmmmm, this looks good enough to eat."

Disclaimer, I love raw oysters, but.....

I knew a guy that was an ex heroin addict. He would shoot up peanut butter, mayonnaise, wine, you name it, just about anything to get high when he couldn't get heroin.

My daughter in 11th grade overheard kids in class discussing smoking duct tape to get high and complaining that eventually you will have to be at least 18 to purchase spray paint.

When I was in high school, a friend of mine was caught by his mom using Dust-Off lens cleaner to get high from the propellant. His mom, a liberal NOW member, screamed, "Why can't you just smoke pot like the rest of the kids?"

For the record, I smoked no pot, inhaled no Dust-Off, and took no illegal drugs.

I thought the same thing about oysters, but at least someone saw a bird or something eat one first.

Too bad these legislators don’t realize that the problem is not the substance, but the “value system” of too many people that allows them to destroy their health with junk.

“So now people are using bath salt as a drug?”

The wonderful people selling this put mephedrone in it and label it bath salts. Sometimes mephedrone and 4-fluoroamphetamine, sometimes piperazine-based drugs.

Nobody would take a bath with salts costing $30 a gram. Well, depends on with who, I guess.

Although they're labeled as bath products or even poison, always including the warning
"Not for human consumption,"
word on the street and the Internet is that they can be sniffed as "legal cocaine" or "legal speed," Henry A. Spiller, director of the Kentucky Regional Poison Center in Louisville, said Wednesday.

Once again, bending over backwards to save the stupid.

Hey, wasn't this on FoxNews earlier? I wasn't paying close attention...
