the government actually claims it can hold hostage people's Social Security payments in order to FORCE those people to accept Medicare enrollment.

The Department of Health and Human Services insists an individual cannot forfeit Medicare eligibility and continue to collect Social Security benefits even after paying into the latter system over an entire career.

Then I want my money they stole from me back.If they do not pay me, I will take a few federal pieces of property, you know, a tank or two, a bunch of ammo for the tanks, that sort of thing./s

Theft is not legal, not even if its sanctioned by a bunch of fascists. They take my money, they will have to return it to me,one way or the other. The easy way or the hard way, makes no difference to me. And just how many of us think the same way? About 200 million or so of us.

Where did you get that Cicero quote? I like it. I took Latin in high school for 5 years, then got a 4 year degree in Classics.

Right you are!! Single medical premiums are approx $250 a month or $3,000 annually. (Double that for couples)

I don’t believe people realize that elderly retirees pay for Medicare health insurance - even as the median Social Security benefit is only approx $1200 a month.

Additionally, there are many disabled beneficiaries (under 65) who use more medical services than older retirees. You know them - the guys and gals who get those power scooters for nothing.

It’s was only a couple of years ago when my company changed to having Medicare primary. Prior to that, the company medical plan was primary, Medicare secondary. Good retirement benefits was always a big plus when working for this Fortune 500 company — now I might as well be working for Walmart as far as retirement benefits go.

But Medicare is a VOLUNTARY program, yes, even Part A, according to federal STATUTE. The Bureaucrats, not Congress, however, have determined that if you are over 65, you should have nothing but Medicare. That’s the point of the article, if you read it.

I’m neither a member of AARP nor a fool. Take your glib, disrespectful, self righteous attitude and stick it up your @ss.

Glad to know you are not foolish. Sorry if it’s disrespectful to inform people about the truth about AARP. I apologize for sounding disrespectful to you.

It is hugely frightening that the state might think to force Medicare upon all, whether they want it or not.

Full disclosure: My wife and I both have Part A only (which pays toward hospitalization; it comes at no extra charge, after retirement). We have declined Part B (which pays toward doctors' bills) and Part D (which is the prescription-drug benefit), since our BC/BS is far superior to Medicare in these regards.

Only someone who views statism as a good thing might defend the government's apparent desire to require the purchase of Medicare for all who qualify.

Retired Military over 65 are forced onto Medicare in order to get their Tricare for Life as their secondary ins.

And Medicare patients better get use to being told WE NO LONGER TAKE NEW MEDICARE PATIENTS.

I’ve had 2 ortho docs tell me that in the past 6 weeks. I have fibromyalgia which means I get tendonitis frequently.

Our Primary Care doc is retiring rather than practice under Deathcare.
