Welfare benefits for the children of illegal immigrants cost America's largest county more than $600 million last year, according to a local official keeping tabs on the cost. Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich released new statistics this week showing social spending for those families in his county rose to $53 million in November, putting the county government on track to spend more than $600 million on related costs for the year -- up from $570 million in 2009.

$600 Million in a county of over 10 Million ? Baloney. Assuming just 5% are illegal (500,000), you telling me they’re only spending, what, $1,200 per kid ? I’ll bet it’s more like $6 Billion, perhaps higher.

Great point. And, as I said earlier:

The solution is so EASY!

All California has to do is hold the IMMIGRATION NATURALIZATION SERVICE of the Federal Governmment RESPONSIBLE for all debts, expense, criminal liability, services, and public assistance provided to ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN, retroactive.

The Federal agency responsible for letting them in IS responsible for all expenses persuant to same!

(I know all about suing the fed...)

But DO IT ANYWAY.

Tabulate all the money Mexico owes us for these types of expenses, and tell our creditors to collect the money we owe them from Mexico.

Except L.A. is a sanctuary city (the first one, actually). They can't complain or hold others responsible when they get exactly what they ask for.

I hope they get more of it and hard.

Every state should prepare an itemized bill showing all costs and direct or indirect expenses associated with ILLEGAL ALIENS there.

Publish these bills to the voting public and send them, daily if necessary, to the Immigration "Service".

Put those expense up front all day, every day. Especially around election time.

Tell the INS that these bills will come out of their SALARIES, which they aren't earning anyway.

/end of pipe dream...

No way in hell is the actual cost as low as $600,000,000. It’s got to be MUCH higher than that. What a load of crap.

According to the latest study by FAIRUS, which is based on the very conservative number of 13 million illegal in the US, illegal aliens cost the US taxpayer $113 billion net in direct costs per year and the California taxpayer $21,765 million per year.

Three separate studies put the number of illegal aliens currently at ~40 million or 3X the number used by FAIR.
