Boxer to Introduce Common-Sense Concealed Firearms Act of 2011(Barf Alert)
yubanet.com ^ | 22 January, 2011 | Sen. Barbara Boxer's office

Washington, D.C. January 22, 2011 – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today announced that next week she will introduce the Common-Sense Concealed Firearms Act of 2011, which would require all states that allow residents to carry concealed weapons in public to have minimum standards for granting permits.

Senator Boxer said, "The tragic events in Tucson earlier this month are a reminder of why we need common-sense gun laws. This measure will establish reasonable permitting standards for Americans who wish to carry concealed firearms. According to a recent poll, more than 60 percent of respondents believe there should be a reasonable permitting process for those who wish to carry concealed firearms."

Senator Boxer's legislation would require all states that allow residents to carry concealed weapons to establish permitting processes that would include meaningful consultation with local law enforcement authorities to determine whether the permit applicant is worthy of the public trust and has shown good cause to carry a concealed firearm.

Currently, two states do not permit residents to carry concealed firearms, while three states, including Arizona, allow residents to carry concealed firearms in public without a permit. The other 45 states require residents to obtain permits to carry concealed firearms, but the majority of these states would not meet the standard set in this bill.

Senator Boxer plans to introduce the legislation when the Senate reconvenes next week.

Common sense and Barbara Boxer? She is the opposite of the term common sense. She knows not what it is nor can common sense exist in her small liberal fantasy world.

Well, good luck with this making it through the House...

Don't you know that there is no difference between the parties? At least that is what I am always told here.

I think you have nailed it.

Uniform rules for CC would be good, but the way the feds do things no thanks.

I can live with the rules here in fly over country.

In California, concealed permits require “good cause” — which is why nobody no politically well connected can get one.

Feinstein and Boxer can pack or have armed body guards, but their attitude towards the “little people” is more like #$#$#$% you, peons!

Didn’t the first set of “common-sense gun laws.” Do the trick?

What about the second set? Third?

Isn’t it curious how the gradually destruction of freedom doesn’t help matters, does it?

Every time Leftists come out with a new way to take away our freedoms, they never seem to work as claimed and only make things worse, requiring a repeat of the entire process.

Maybe each of these new anti-Liberty initiatives should really be called Common-Insanity?

The recurring theme, evident over the past few years in particular, is that it is NOT the lack of laws and regulations that is the problem, it is the expectation that the government bureaucrats can enforce anything in a coherent manner.

Well, and the complete and utter disregard on the part of the feds for the Constitutional scheme for what issues and powers go to which branches and levels of government. Even if something IS a good idea, that doesn't mean "good idea" supersedes the Constitution about which part of government, if any, may deal with the issue.

(Disclaimer: NOT implying this one is a good idea.)

She is just playing to her base in a state that is "may issue" concealed carry.

In most counties, I hear Kali's actually classified as "probably won't issue".

****Hmmm, Let’s guess what questions the good Senator Boxer (aka the “anti-maam”) would have us answer.***

Want to carry a gun? Answer this question!

“HOW many bubbles are there in a bar of soap?”

Question: Exactly WHERE in the constitution does it grant the federal government the power to FORCE a state to adopt a certain law?

Minimum standards?

How about:
have a pulse,
no violent felony convictions, and
not registered as a member of any anti-American political party (Communist, Socialist, or Democrat).

What else do we need?

I've got news for this fascist piece of filth Boxer: The Second Amendment IS a common sense gun law. They never miss a beat, do they?

Wandre on over to the PJM site and visit the article ‘Common Sense Gun Laws’ Make a Comeback After Tucson Shooting . Look for my responses as Ward Dorrity to an elitist ex-military posting as "libertyship46" and to an arrogant know-it-all lefty posting as Dwight. They refuse to consider the most fundamental first-principles argument for the right to dself-defense and the corollary: ownership of weapons suitable for the purpose.

If Cirque du Soleil were hiring mental acrobats and contortionists, these guys would have a job.

The mag ban WILL happen. At least 50 RINO congress critters will vote for it as “reasonable” gun control.
