My Liberal Friends Are Idiots (Vanity)
Self | 1/26/2011 | Thunder Sleeps

Posted on 01/26/2011 6:59:43 AM PST by ThunderSleeps

A reply to one of my posts a little while ago got me thinking. Stay with me on this... The reply said that the MSNBC Exec may actually believe MSNBC does not have a political agenda {snort}. The poster pointed out (reasonably and possibly correctly) that the Exec probably travels in circles far to the left, and thus MSNBC's ah “style” seems fairly middle-ground to him. {ha!)

So that got me thinking, am I guilty of the same thing? A little introspection while getting ready for work and I believe the answer is no. I have a wide range of friends and family, even some very liberal types. (on my wife's side!) That got me thinking about how my liberal family/friends view the world. I've concluded that they, like liberals/socialists everywhere, are idiots. Sorry guys & gals, love you, but you people really, really have the blinders on. In fact it has to be a willing suspension of disbelief.

Perhaps the best example of this is the dichotomy of their alleged “liberal”-ism and loving life, liberty, freedom... (as opposed to us bad-old conservatives who are rooted in what, dogma?) Yet in spite of claiming to love freedom and liberty, they continue to support hussein obama and his socialist policies.

I believe that even a few minutes reflection shows just how incongruous this is. Socialism, particularly the way hussein obama is trying to bring it to America (or bend America to it) is not much different than the old “company run towns” of the west 150 years ago or so. The only difference is scale – in that regard hussein obama and his cohorts in crime are far worse. The companies only ran a town or two each, hussein is trying to run the entire Country that way.

Now, my liberal friends are idiots because I can bring this up and they'll all agree. Oh yes, those bad-old capitalists and companies! They ruined/ran those people's lives! You had to pay them for your claim, pay to sleep in company housing, buy groceries/food at the company store, tools/supplies at the company hardware, drink your whiskey in the company saloon... The company owned them, they were slaves and could never get free, never get out of debt to the company. Any liberal would agree to that, right?

Now we have hussein obama bringing the wonders of socialism to America. You want healthcare? Come get it from my company store. We all know he and his socialist buddies are aiming for a “single payer” system. You want a student loan? Come see me at the company store. You want to use the Internet or be an ISP? Come talk to my boys at the FCC, they'll make sure you meet our net neutrality standards. You want to buy an appliance, a light bulb even? Come see my buddies at GE, their stuff meets all my green regulations. You want a car? Hey, my guys at GM will hook you up, and it is all green and meets my “standards” that you have to comply with... Say, youse guys would be “happy” to join our union...right? You don't need to ballot, just sign this here petition...

And on and on... We, the people, are becoming ever-more indebted and in service to the government. This isn't freedom, this isn't liberty. It isn't any different that being out west in the mid 1800s. We absolutely must rein in the out of control government expansion that is happening under the socialists.

Exactly so. I have a neighbor who hates Republicans specifically because Republicans want to control all aspects of her life. I tell her "No. We just want to be left alone." But she tells me I'm wrong, and that I'm a nazi and that I insist on telling her what she can and cannot do. And the only protection she has from people like me is to get a whole lot of laws passed to keep people like me in line.

She is unmovable.

The sad thing is that we believe they are idiots, correctly so I might add. They however, believe we are evil. Think about the difference. That gives them license to do anything to defeat us. Up to and including death. We will have to deal with them on these terms before it is over.

Perhaps you can ask her to cite an example of Republicans controlling her life?
I'll wager the only thing she can come up with is Republicans would prevent taxpayers from paying for her to kill her baby.

Yes. It’s mostly abortion. Also, she finds homosexuality quite distasteful — which is why she is a fierce proponent of homsoexual rights. That makes her a good person, you see? Although the practice is abhorrent, she — unlike myself — can rise above her disgust and support the unsupportable. As a hateful Republican, I would deny homosexual the power to marry, which proves that I am a control freak. She’s much better than that.

Chris Mathews was on MSNBC stating how the obama state of the union speech would only understood by better educated viewers. (how visual vs auditory of him).

IOW obama supporter smart, obama detractor must be stupid.

steal destiny good. support destiny of the USA bad.

I'm in the same situation, and I've given up trying to educate them. It's like banging your head against the wall.

You have to understand their motivation for BEING “liberals”.

They want to feel good about themselves as “good people” without having to be accountable to anyone else but their own definition of right and wrong, which, invariably, is “set” right below the mark where they see their own behaviors.

This is why they refuse to, and get angry when you make them, examine an issue beyond the point where they feel good about themselves for taking a particular position on said issue.

Truth is not the “point” with them as it is with us.
Feeling good about oneself IS the point.

Control all aspects of your life?

Oh, I know what you mean, this is about the “choice” to kill your unborn baby if you want. That’s the only issue, isn’t it?

Now, let’s talk about flush toilets, light bulbs, self defense, educational choice, charitable choice, SUV’s, and medical care.

Most of the time it is a waste of time. Sometimes you might be able to help someone who has had head in sand see the light, but a libreral is a liberal and nothing will change it.

That’s because it’s not a matter of “education”.
In fact, when you’re trying to educate them, you are in essence directly attacking their sense of self worth.

Marijuana, both parties seem to be against, but Democrat voters tend to blame the Republicans. And that’s a big one.

Being against Marijuana really makes the argument for them. It’s one thing to be both for freedom and against killing babies and another to be against something for vague and shifting public policy reasons. Being against marijuana makes it hard to be taken seriously as pro freedom. We lose freedom minded liberals for that.

Also antigay / general bedroom. But that’s more of a vague thing. No specific thing we want to outlaw or anything, but the belief that Republicans want to regulate what you do in the bedroom.

Related to this is the belief that Republicans want to turn the country into a theocracy. Country Club Republicans aren’t entirely comfortable with the Christian Coalition / Social Conservative / Religious Right. But that’s just them being wrong.

Liberals are beyond education. They do not want to hear anything that doesn’t mesh with their views.

My brother is a hardcore old time Democrat who has become a flaming liberal with the help of MSNBC. Olbermann was his hero. Anyway, one day about a year and a half ago, he came over for something, and we were just talking. Politics came up, because he can’t leave it alone. At one point, I said, Fox is as far right as MSNBC is left, (trying to be gracious). At that point, sitting in my living room, he looked at me and said, “If you believe that, you’re brain dead”.

If he wasn’t my brother, I’d have kicked him out of my house, literally and figuratively.

Liberals are beyond reaching.

I feel like I’m on an Apple vs Android thread.

But Apple is thinner. Apple says we don’t need flash.
Don’t tell me Androids can do everything an Apple can do and more for half the price. Apple has “user experience” And I guess that “user experience” is the ability to make the Apple user feel good about themselves.

Liberals want the government to make decisions for them and for other people because they’re not competent to make decisions for themselves and can’t imagine that others are either. Maybe they’re jealous of the competent and feel that the competence of others gives them an unfair advantage.

Liberals and Apple fanboys don’t think that people should make their own decisions.
