BUFORD, Ga. A Cobb County jury has awarded a Buford woman $1.2 million after she said she was scalded by 190-degree water that shot out of a cappuccino machine at a QuikTrip convenience store.
Lawyer Nelson Tyrone III says the woman, 52-year-old Cynthia Nance, was burned on Halloween night in 2007 at a QuikTrip convenience store.
Atlanta attorney Valerie Pinkett, who represented QuikTrip, said the case was settled on confidential terms after the jury's verdict. She said the machine involved has been replaced with a newer model at all QuikTrip stores.
Tyrone said Nance was burned on her hand and arm as she held her cup near the machine. He said she could require an electronic implant to correct nerve damage caused by the burning.
I can just about guarantee I know which side of town the jury was pulled from.
This just plain SUCKS!!!! but it happens every day.
Every business seems to have a sign on the door that says SUE ME! We are nothing but a target.
We live in a world where some bustard can walk through the door and declare we owe him for something. Think about it, you are at risk on a personal basis for someone coming onto your property, slipping on a step and suing you for all you own. It could happen.
I don’t allow anyone on my property without them having a good reason to be there.
I can just about guarantee I know which side of town the jury was pulled from.
The machine malfunctioned and injured her, causing permanent nerve damage and severe burns as it doused her with scalding water.
Who told you to put the balm on? Did I tell you to put the balm on? /kramers-burn
Quik Trip should have first started their offer with free coffee at all their quik trip stations, for life. Then paused to see if this dumb cluck of a woman would have said “Deal!”
You're right. It would have cost them next to nothing.

His parents must be so proud of him for making a nice living as a leech and festering boil on the butt of society.

You forgot:
“Cup not intended for consumption, eating it may cause internal injury or death. Remove spoon or any spoonlike device from cup before drinking, or severe eye damage/ blindness may result. Hot coffee should not be snorted up nostrils like cocaine, as sinus damage or burns may result. Likewise, coffee should not be inhaled into the lungs, as drowning and death may result. Also, coffee should not be squirted out of the mouth at potentially armed passersby, who may beat the crap out of you or murder you and toss your worthless stupid carcass in a ditch to rot.
We’re just saying.”
I'm going to Starbucks to pour brewed coffee in my shoe now.....see ya later.
I’m not a coffee drinker, but where is this going? 110 degree coffee instead of 190? I’d think you’d want coffee on the hot side.
Yep. Hot and dark. I used to like lukewarm coffee with lots of cream and sugar when i was younger, but now I take it black and piping hot.
I get your point without all the cursing newbie.
I hope the back side of that cup is in Spanish
Well this explains the lukewarm cup of hot chocolate I got at Starbux today. Had to zap it in the microwave to make it tolerable.
Where is Jackie Chiles when we need him?
If it was too hot, you must be shot!
